Strange PR

Sorry for starting a pr thread, you must be getting sick of those by now.
Anyway, I was just using a pagerank checker out of curiousity and I got some very strange results:

My pr remained 0 after the last update so its really weird that it would jump to 7 all of a sudden. Is this just a glitch or could this be the beginning of a very strange pr update?

More then likely a glitch. You would need some serious work and money to go from pr0 to pr7 in 1 pr update.

Yeah thought so too.. I did work on the site a lot and was pretty mad that I didn't get a pr last update because I have a few pr5 sites linking to it but a pr7 all of a sudden would seem really weird.

Some of the datacenters that weren't shown in the screenshot were also showing 7 while others showed 0. I used iwebtool.. does anybody notice anything weird about their pr there?

I just tried it and it said my pr5 domain was a pr3. Then I tried it again and it said the same domain was a pr2. I think it's just on the fritz.

Guess its right what they say.. if its too good to be true it probably is

Do weird things like this happen often to the datacenters?

It could just be their script that is causing the errors. I've never seen datacenters act like the before, no.

aHa, Something is wrong with the tool you used or it could be Google itself.
    From Pr0 to Pr7, I don't think so.

PR is ok if you have a high PR but you should know, that traffic is much more important than anything else.

It's not a prediction it's your actual pagerank. Page rank doesn't directly matter but it does matter when it comes to selling ad spots or selling the site. It also helps determine how creditable the site is usually.

This keeps happening of late - datacenters are always showing PR 7. Seems strange that it's always 7, but is most definitely a glitch in the system.

PR isn't useless. When you started off as a webmaster - if it was in the days of PR - I'll put my left leg on it that you only paid for directory submissions if they had PR. As you have grown wiser, you learn that PR isn't everything; unless you're a directory owner that appeals to n00bs.

Well....as bigrollerdave said its har to get PR 7 from PR-0 in one update so keep concentrating on doing SEO only white hat techniques.........BTW whats about your ranking.....if your site ranks well......then good but if not than think for it to improve ranking first the PR.

Something is definitely wrong with the iwebtool pr checker...

It shows 7 for almost any site if you try hard enough.. =)
