I use adwords quite a bit but haven't tried to setup a brand new campaign in a long time. Just did and for the same exact phrases that I have other active campaigns running with a maximum CPC of $.15, my new campaign is stuck. I have a little message below each of the search terms telling me that my minimum bid to activate is $.40! And this is on dozens of search terms where I am currently averaging $.07 per click in other campaigns. Has anyone else seen this? I'm wondering if I go ahead and up the CPC to $.40 just to get it active if I can then go back in a few days and drop it to the normal levels?
One of my campaigns had half of my keywords deactivated... if I want to activate them I need to bid.......... 5 bucks per keyword!! Ridiculous...
Wow. That sucks. I wasn't thinking too clearly before because since I'm targeting the exact same keywords with the new site as I am with the other site I can get around the min bid to activate thing. I just added the new site as an additional ad under the existing campaign. Not as pretty for tracking but still trackable. Better than having to up my max bids by 250% Those clever, clever guys at google. Let's see ... how can we up the minimum bids without actually formally saying that's what we're doing? Hmmm...
I had a keyword paying $0.05, got a lot of impressions, but a really poor CTR. They changed the minimum to $10.
Sounds like google is really upping the ante, maybe you guys might want to try overture or now called Yahoo Search Marketing. I have used it alot and it seems to do fairly well for me. And with Yahoo Search Marketing there are no minimum bids either. Thanks, Trevor
