I just upgrade my WP site to 2.6 and now whenever someone posts a comment I sometimes get two emails. It isnt happeneing with every comment but with most of them. One thing I notice that is different is that normally the from is always "Word Press", with the duplicates I am getting one that says from "Word Press" and the other will say from "whatever the commentor put in as their name" Whats up with that ?
Doesn't that happen when you need to approve a comment and you click the link in the Wordpress email?
I have been running WP blogs for almost 3 years and have never yet clicked on a WP email. I just login to my admin panel and approve or reject them from there.
Well good for you; I'm sure that's a good security measure. But I also suggested it as an explanation for the "issue" you mentioned.
I appreciate your suggestion. I have realized what is happening now, the new version of WP sends a confirmation when a comment is made which has "Word Press" as the sender. When you approve the comment it then sends you the same exact confirmation message with the name of the commentor as the sender. Strange.
I've been getting that message sequence for at least a couple years (first one says "please moderate" and second is "comment posted.") Maybe one of your settings changed when you upgraded to the latest WP version?
Yep, it's strange to you; but it's been that way with me since I began using wordpress like 4 months ago
Same with me as well. Its good you dont have any other issue with the latest upgrade - like a broken theme..that kind of thing really pisses off. WP 2.6 has been one of the "no problem" upgrades for me so far
