Strange .ext domains and the values they have

I am very curious to know.

I've seen really weird extentioned domains such as .ac or .io or .sh

Does google consider these domains a lesser value to be on top of the search engine as opposed to your typical .com or .org?

In other words does it make a difference with your SERPs?

i think it will since google will put results for other countries near the end of their list unless its really popular.

They have a much lower value. Basically they are only good for really great country-specific domains or in some cases very good keywords like creditreport.io might be ok if it was a developed site, but in general I would stay away.

Two letter extensions are countrys. Some like .de (Germany) and .jp (Japan) are quite valuable. Many have little value except for the very best keywords. And many are restricted to residents and business within that country. A list of all the country domains - and all the general domains also - is on my website tldv(dot)com (link in my signature).

In my experience, Google pays little or no attention to extensions, unless the search is for something local, where the local TLD is of greater value.
