Strange Earnings & Clicks ratio

I've lately noticed a very strange thing happening to me on adsense. It seems that in most cases I make about 15$ to 20$ / day , with very verious amount of clicks, and earnings accordingly. For instance, it can one day be 100 clicks with 18$, and the other day 40 clicks with 20$. So it seems to me that the ratio veries alot, but earnings keep coming steady. I know that many ads cost different then others per click, but it's a bit strange that it sums up to almost the same amount of earnings strangly every single day.

Anyone cares to explain (guess) this fishy thingie? :)

So I think you should analyze your traffic sources to maximize your earning.

That is a bit strange - my earnings don't usually look like that. They usually coincide with the click amounts. However, it is most likely due to some CPM stuff, or different advertisers cycling through their system.

What type of niche are you in?

vntutor : Nothing much to anaylize I think... most of my traffic is coming from search engines... which means it's highly targeted to both my website content and ads.

Gerry_1717 : The niche is automobiles / cars.
What do you mean it's something to do with CPM?

What do you guys think I should check / analyze, and how?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

As far as I know Google is also showing CPM ads (pay per views). This means that while the CTR was lower (because people didn't click on ads), google showed CPM ads on your pages which improved your income.

Try running some advanced reports to see if you have any CPM income.

I really don't think anything strange about this. It's just the way it is. try and increase your exposure and i am sure that the numbers on the $ side of the eauation will go up. Also ondays when you have a lot more clicks, some of those clicks may be invalid

I would just be happy making the $20 a day and not worry about it.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Seems like earnings come out to be around the same everyday even though CTR and the actual amount of clicks varies wildly (relative to earning variation).

The option is in your own adsense account. Select "advance report" and select "show data by targeting type - contextual or placement"

It seems that no placement ads are showing... (on most days it shows nothing, or couple of impressions for placement ads.. had only one day with 104 impressions, but it now seems that I never earned anything from that type of ads).
So it looks like all the earnings are from Contextual ads. So again, i'm confused as to why the increases and decreases in clicks.
Can you please suggest me some good reporting tools for clicks, so I could track and get a bit more information to determine what are the differences from a day to another?

Thank you all for your help.
