I searched for "ecommerce" and found that all the letter E's were bolded in the sponsored results.

    A screenshot is here:

Has anyone noticed this? I couldn't get it for something like iBook but I got it for a few variations of ecommerce.

The whole word is in bold, but the letter 'e' has less free space, so it has more density and looks like it is the only letter "bolder" than the others example: eCommerce - electricity, it does also depend on the font that is used

Your screenshot shows a thumbnail image next to a result on the Google page. How did you get it to appear?

Samsamsam, stay focused. :) That is a Firefox plugin.

This thread is about the bolding of the e.

yep, it actually happens. I got the same behaviour by searching "ebusiness". No idea why it happens though

Google recently started bolding terms that it thinks match the actual search keyword. For example, if you search for "widget" then the word "widgets" will be bold in the ads. Similarly, if you search for "ecommerce" then "e-commerce" and "e commerce" will be bold. Because there's a dangling 'e' in one of those related terms for ecommerce, it makes the e's elsewhere in the ads bold as well.

This makes sense. I noticed it too, but don't remember when it started. It does make it easier to browse through search results, and make keywords in contents even more important :)
