Pardons Pardons!!! But from the thread started it seemed like you were nothing bust a person increasing his post counts!!! Sorry Can i go now? @Bluedevilmedia: I am 20 and you can red rep the same person once, then go on and rep some 20 more people, wait for a day more and red - rep again.... You start a WHILE WEND LOOP for this REP thing and i guarantee you, the person (maybe me) you are red - repping will be history on DP but you might have lost many points too LOLZ!!! Chao!
He is starting useless posts all over the forums. He is just trying to build his post count that's all.
I love directories...on DP there are at least 15 possible free link from new dir every day! My "home" is directories/sollecitations&announcement
I agree 100%. Whoever is in it for the quick fix, they will soon come to an end. Who cares if there are 10s of 1,000s of directories, don´t look at them and ignore them. If you want to blame someone, blame the search engines. There are good directories out there, but this is DP. You will find a few, but of course, at least 80percent of what is shown here is pure crap.
On a serious note, some like iowadawg are getting out of directories. Here's a good article from LaCabra to read: http://www.youshouldknow.com/direct...people-doing-incredible-stupid-things-25.html
I think the article is good. I guess it would be more convincing if the blog is showing "what a website should be" according to the post.
Although I would never take one person's actions to constitute a trend, I notice that a few of the newest directory mods are moving away from the pure directory format. If you're adding blogs, articles and other content to your directory, it becomes more of a portal in my view. It's as though the popularity of directories is turning full circle, and content websites are the new black.
Well, I certainly hope my directory does not fall into the "80% crap" category, I do think the market will take care of itself. This means that if there is a huge bubble the profits will fall, interest will fall, and tons of people will fade out of the industry. However, those with the legs to stick around during the tough times and come out the other end after things have rationalized, they will be in a good position... or at least they can be.
Well, The question of the day is WHAT'S THE POINT OF DIRECTORIES, i can search web without them. Anything you need , u can find on the web. and the most important issue with the web today, is that its getting more difficult to find, what are you looking for. why? too much garbage on web, articles, directories, forums. Everyone cloning everything. nl
Trying to bring a revolution? BTW "nemolist" don'g give me a negative rep. It will only hurt your good reputation more and more.
I don't know, why i have to get somekind of crap "point" good or bad, for my view on this subject. I am not saying anything bad, just talking to people, and 50% agree with me. I am not here for any points, i don't have any directory, i am here as Web user. There is so many Hours waste on creating directories, but no one wants to think, that it 's just a bubble, which will kill of you. Non of directory are adding value to the web, it 's just garbage of links crossed with each other. this is "just my opinion" Your time wasted . maybe one day u can live from it. Or maybe one day, google would chage rules and all your work goes to drain. loosing links, indexed pages, value of the click, money, car, house, but most valuable life. U as directory owner, don't have any control over it. What Google wants to do, they will do. Tomorrow u can wake up and your directory GONE. nl
The point is to help people find things. You may argue that you just use search engines for that, but the fact is that search engines actually rely extensively on directories for their ranking. And the vast majority of directories will not link to crap websites, believe it or not. It's hard to say with any certainty whether directory links as a whole are any more or less spammy than links such as forum sigs, blog comments, social bookmarks, and so on. But if search engines didn't spider directories at all there would be plenty of useful mom-and-pop sites that would fall out of the index altogether.
