you are right to some extent. even i have a list of dofollow edu blogs and i used to post comments on those edu blogs. but These links are not giving me great results in terms of SERP. Social bookmarking and article marketing are giving me a lot of help in terms of SERP.

And what blogs did you use? Can you please list them? I have several nice tools which help me to determine whether or not a link from a website can give any benefit. Here is one of them by the way, it's free and you can use it also: Backlink Checker.

There are actually some arguments on whether those automatic backlinks count as a vote or not and since anybody can just leave their urls from making comments, there seems to be little value attached to it. But sometimes, it has its benefit especially for newly established sites/blog whereby you want crawlers to follow those links so that you can get indexed fast.

So this brings the question, where are we meant to get valuable links?

    - Paid links - against TOS

    - link exchange - against TOS at least frowned upon

    - Directory Links - seem pretty much dead unless in huge numbers or paid reviews which probably falls under paid links

    - Article writing - well maybe but really so many people have spammed this by spinning articles and printing rubbish its hard to see how it will continue

    - now blog commenting is seen as spamming

So what ways are people using to get backlinks that work?

Friend You are right , SEO Link building resources are going to down and most of sources started to use No follow so it is difficult to get good dofollow links.

we can go with blogging , link Baiting , some Dofollow social book marking sites and Do follow Forums.

    Thanx
    Eric
