I think style customization helps when you do it once every season or so. Also, try adding new forums and purging those that aren't active for a long time.

One thing is to install a modification to embed videos from youtube, this will keep people on your site longer. And not just youtube, get a mod that will embed videos from break, revver, yahoo video, google video, daily motion.....

This will encourage members to make their own videos and post them on your site

Make new changes at a good pace. If you do them all-at-one then the benefit is minimal. You need to space them out so it appears your site is constantly evolving and getting better.

I would say every month..try to add a new feature.

Keep in mind that people come and go on a forums and overall you can't really prevent that.

Forums really do need that consistent effort, to keep the readership coming back. Agree with above poster to add new features / improvements monthly or so.

    Good luck!

I think initially you need to put the impotus in - make some posts and keep activity up! Plus things like arcades etc are great too.

If the forum is successful, you won't have to worry about members leaving. Members will stop coming to the forums and you will just have to deal with it. The good news is that new members will be joining to take their places. You just need to make sure your forum is as addicting as possible.
