I agree to an extent. It is important to know that you aren't wasting money on your conversions, but it can be easy to gett too carried away with tracking everything.
You are right. Looking at stats the whole day can be very time consuming. Tracking a few "Primary Purposes / Goals" is just one thing and can be done easily by any good stats program nowadays. We use Google Analytics and GA provides us with a lot of good information. I think many marketeers take the wrong conclusions out of their data.
