don't even bother with ICANN. We have been waiting for 3.5 years for a domain name to get released. Someone in Turkey is selling one of ours :-(

This is something serious which paypal as a financial company should be legally oblidged to investigate, they say they are fast and safe but obviously they are being exploited and sellers are being hurt because of this. In my opinion paypal are being legally neglectful of their responsibilities, they can't just shrug of sellers who are selling perfectly legit items it's not fair.

This is absolutely terrible, I have had worries at times doing little freelancing jobs for a hundred dollars or so that after spending countless hours of research and writing I would have the buyer do a charge back, but thankfully it has not happened as of yet. It is too bad someone here at DP, or even DP themselves can not set up a nice and cheap escrow service solely for DP transactions to keep these types of things from happening anymore.

Also, I am curious if any of you who have had your domains stolen have had any luck contacting the police? I would assume most of these cases would be considered state or international fraud depending on the geographical locations of the buyer and seller.

I would agree with that, especially for high value domains it might be an idea to contact the authorities, this is theft afterall.

Absolutely, I mean the law is willing to work with little old ladies who think someone stole $50 from their credit card, then they should be more than happy to work with someone who has had a $100+ domain stolen.

    Well said,

perhaps even for the larger fraud cases the FBI may want to look in on it, I don't know much about us agencies as i'm from the uk, but from what I know the FBI investigate fraud cases too don't they? and other electronic crimes.

Sorry to hear about all this, but I don't think Paypal will help. I got ripped off over $200 once and I did not get anything back, they started stating the laws they operate under...being the seller is the worse thing ever! I am not sure Godaddy will do anything either if Paypal doesnt. One way to work the paypal system is that if you do not trust the buyer tell him/her that you will keep the funds in your account for about 5 working days before you transfer, in the mean time contact paypal and ask them about the funds, also check if they are verified with paypal. All these will limit error.

Paypal is the most useless system there can be, I think these are the golden days for con people just about anyone and everyone can cheat the system and not get caught and all is done on the back of the seller.

I think one way of getting Godaddy and PayPal involved is that to mention that you will start getting the Police and lawyers involved, this may help, also when you call the Paypal and Godaddy ask for the managers because the people who work there are useless.
