Hi, i'm new to affiliate marketing, started from 3 mounths, and sending visitors directly to the publisher page through PPC adwords, using hoplink like: http://myID.xxxxx.hop.clickbank.net. So my question, is it possible to have your commissions stolen using only hoplinks? I read a lot about cloaking clickbank ID, but seem difficult and still confused. Do i have to spend my time about this, or is better at first if i focus on how to choose products from marketplace and how to manage PPC? I'm a newbie, not so expert, just read some books, so i can't realize for now my own landing page, i have to learn so much and also i'm not english speaking, need hard working to improve. (With my second product i earned $2,700 in nov/dec, i don't know, maybe i'm just lucky, i found a good niche but now sales seems to go down) Can you tell me please where can i find useful and easy understanding info about cloaking using CB hoplink? Thanks in advance. Khan12
I'm not an expert, but are there any refunds taking place, thus reducing your commission? Regarding "is it possible to have your commissions stolen": 1) I would have thought that it is not easily possible to have your comission stolen by another party 2) having your link visible in the status bar may alert people to where the target is (you should disguise it via javascript) 3) any chance the publisher is not recording the affiliate at their end? 4) double check the link AND your affiliate details
Nothing will help to hide your affiliate link, because it will always be on the bottom of the "Checkout page" .
I don't worry about this and I do fine. I think it may depend somewhat on your niches. Personally I spend almost no time promoting internet marketing products so I don't really worry about it as normal people don't really know or care about any of this sort of crap. I like to use a simple code to hide my links just because I think the clickbank links look ugly, but even that is probably not necessary 99% of the time.
Khan12 there is no need to cloak http://myID.xxxxx.hop.clickbank.net if you are sending visitors directly to the publisher page through PPC adwords. Because adwords cloaks it by itself. The only time cloacking is usefull is on landing pages (but you dont have it).
I had a problem with my commissions being stolen... I cloaked my links and now I'm seeing sales being posted on my account. I use a simple html script to hide my links. PM and I'll give it to you...
The two best ways are making your own html or php redirect of this free script http://www.cbboss.com/component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/gid,2/Itemid,26/ The free script is easier/faster to use.
I find that hiding your hoplink isn't something you have to worry about too much unless you are selling products to other affiliate marketers. And the truth is any affiliate marketer who knows anything about clickbank can always replace your hoplink anyway - no matter what you do. That's one of the reasons I don't like to sell products aimed at other affiliates, the main reason is that it's over saturated market. The reason I say it's not something you have to worry about unless you are selling to affiliates is that your average joe just doesn't know what a hoplink is. Most people don't look at links that closely. They just click on them.
I second this, and a good way to avoid this in the affiliate marketing niche is to add the famous... Super Affiliate Bonus! Otherwise in other niches, people don't know clickbank man!
Yah, you gotta cloak your links so you will be sure that the commissions will go to you and not to some else's.
