Stoking the flames of racial hatred in America - Merry Christmas

Six years after the first "post racial" president of these United States of America, racial tensions are at a higher point than they have been since the 70s.

Following the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman incident, our president and attorney general injected themselves into what would have been a normal shooting investigation, looking for racial animus on the part of the Latino, George Zimmerman.

Roll the clock forward to two additional events involving police interaction with a black male, where, by all accounts, the police operated according to their rule book and their training, yet our President, our Attorney General, and in the most recent case, the Mayor of New York (Bill DeBlasio) inject themselves into the situation to look for racial motivations on the part of the police.

The result? Riots. Bloodshed. Burning buildings. And now, two dead police officers in the city of New York, after a gunman took revenge on the police for what he was lead to believe by our political leaders was murder by our law enforcement.

There have been enough interactions with police departments across the United States by people of any race to highlight the fact we may have a problem with how our law enforcement agencies are being militarized and deal with the citizens at large, the case of Kelly Thomas being a recent event where a homeless man was beaten to death by 5 police officers without consequence. These seem like systemic problems that require a cultural shift, both within and external to the law enforcement agencies.

Shouting "racism" any time a black person dies at the hands of a non-black person is simply irresponsible, especially considering that the people most likely (by a wide margin) to kill young black males in the USA are other young black males.

Accusations of racism have become standard fare from those of the Democratic party in the US, primarily for political point scoring. With the death of these two officers, it would seem those chickens have come home to roost.

Sign the petition and call for NYC Mayor DeBlasio to resign. The blood of those dead police officers is on his hands.

Not exactly. I support the leader of the police not being anti-cop. I support the leader of the military not being anti-military.

The police are in a tight spot on this one, because any real Republican who takes office will be a union buster. Any Democrat who takes office will probably be a Critical Race Theory fan boy, where cops are guilty first.

The real story in this case is that a pack of cigarettes that costs $14 in NYC, and that selling cigarettes without paying that tax results in arrest rather than citation. The cops were following their training and enforcing the law, but the real problem is with the law. If you don't want cops arresting people (black, white, yellow, or brown) for selling cigarettes, don't make laws requiring them to do so, or don't create taxes that create black markets for goods. Its pretty simple really.
