Hi,
I own a fairly large stock photo site that I started about 9 months ago. It is based on the ktools.net script (which is licensed) although I have done some serious editing to the html and the graphics. As far as I know I can transfer the license to the new owner (I have emailed the owner of ktools to make sure - I'll post here once I find out) but at the very worst the new owner would have to purchae a license, which costs about $300 I think (UPDATE: KTOOLS GOT BACK TO ME JUST NOW - I CAN TRANSFER THE LICENSCE AT NO COST TO THE NEW OWNER - SEE THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST FOR DETAILS). The site has complete backend control and handles just about everyhting, including FTP upload of photos and more. See ktools.net for full details.

REVENUE:
First of all I need to say that I have never made a sale with this site. Please don't stop reading there. The reason that I have never made a sale is because of the following: I have not put anything into advertising or seo besides about 1 hour of adwords. I run several businesses and don't have any time at all to devote to this site anymore. This is an ESTABLISHED site with a contributing base of photographers. If someone that was good at SEO or had any sort of advertising budget was to put sometime into this site it would really flourish. The stock photo community is very large and this site has a VERY good domain name, and the design of the site looks nothing like any other KTOOLS site out there.

CONTRIBUTING PHOTOGRAPHERS:
There are 54 registered photographers, and 29 of those are selling at least one photo through the site, with the most active selling ovet 150. I get an average of 2 photographers siging up a week and probably 20-30 photos listed a week. All photographers come to the site thorough posts I made in photographer forums when I started the site. There were alot more contributing photographers but they left when they didn't have any sales.

HOW REVENUE IS EARNED:
The site earns (would earn) it's revenue through sales of subscriptions. An monthly subscription of unlimited downloads costs $12.99 and the site gets all of that. The photographers get .79 whenever a photo is purchased individually, which is where they make their money. These amounts can be edited easily with several clicks in the admin end of the site. These amounts are better than just about any other stock photo site and are a key selling point.

AMOUNT OF PHOTOS FOR SALE:
There are currently 4005 photos listed for sale on the site, this is the total of all catagories and there are some duplicates in the catagories so the number may be slightly lower than that. There were ALOT more photos for sale but alot of the designers took their photos off after not getting any sales (for the reasons mentioned above). Over half of the photos are owned by the site (not contributed by photographers) and no comission needs to be paid to the designers when they are purchased.

As you can see traffic has dropped of severely over the past few months, someone just needs to put more time into promotion of it.

The site is ranking pretty well for the keyword "stock photos pay by paypal" in Yahoo, for whatever thats worth... on google there are 450 pages indexed (search site:www.greatstockphoto.com) the site was ranking well for alot of different image related keywords but alot of those images have been removed by the photographers so I've lost those rankings.

TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP:
The site is hosted at cheaphost.us - which is a HORRIBLE host (oversells way to much and the server is down all the time) - and I will provide a full backup of the site, free push of the domain name to your godaddy account and the password to the hosting account, if you want to continue hosting there you can take over the 9.99 a month payments (unlimited/unlimited) but I reccomend moving it to a new server. The whole site is about 2000 MB.

TRANSFER OF RIGHTS ETC. ETC.
Upon payment you will get ALL rights to the site and any photos on it (per the terms and conditions on the site).

ADDITIONAL STOCK IMAGES
I also have about 5000 more stock photos that I had purchased that I have not yet uploaded. These are included in the sale of the site and are another huge opportunity for revenue.

Not sure you can copyright them
legally either, since your not owner.

 

Theres about 50 photographers signed up that are selling there own photos.

The Rest of the photos came with resell rights when I bought the site.

The Site has never been marketed and the script that it is running from
Ktools.net costs $400 and has a great backend.

Site really needs to change current business model to promoting and getting more photographers on board with quality unique photos at the moment the current Photographers photos are lost among the thousands of not unique photos or free photos as you call them.

Site has good potential but I dont have the time to put into it.

what about the copyright of the photos on your site???

 

Site comes with 10000 photos that have resell rights approx 4000 of these are uploaded already.

There are photographers that have uploaded photos, these photos can only be sold as per the terms of the agreement that the photgraphers agreed to when they signed up on the site.

As you can see from my feedback here on DP , I would'nt sell something that was'nt legitimate.

Like I said I bought this website two weeks ago for 700$ and have the previous owners phone number plus email, which I will pass onto the winning bidder.
