    Hey guys,

Was just wondering how long it usually takes you to start ranking for a key of about 110k competition just, the key is my domain name and I started getting decent links about 3 weeks ago with some showing in google. I have added lots of unique content and its still nowhere to be seen?

Is your website even indexed yet? Does webmaster tools give you any warnings or errors about our site?

Are you using your targeted keywords as anchor text?

It's indexed, no errors on the site, using keywords as anchor text. Seems to be just low trust but its never taken me this long to rank for a key of this low competition before

I would suggest you to build backlinks to your website. Use Squidoo lenses & do article marketing if you have to :)

I am in the same boat but i did some testing about this stuff and links
i grabbed 2 domains same keyword different .org and info at same time ok
1 site has 7 pages unique content sitemap robots contact privacy t.o.s all that stuff all linked to each page and outbound linking as well. i built about 3000 high pr from 4 to 10 backlinks to this one as well.
the other is 2 pages with nothing else about 20 links

guess whats in the higher position?

the .info 2 page site with less links

Narrow your title tags to just have the keywords and not the other non- value words!
That will make a big difference.

Done to that also. As far as I can see the only reason it isnt ranking is because it needs more trust in google. I think competition in google's algo is ALSO calculated by how many searches the term gets a month. If there's 70 million competing sites for a keyword with 1 hit a day then you're there in a week. It seems from my results that tho theres only 100k competition, as there are 6000 searches a month its harder to compete.

Hmmm just my thoughts, will keep u posted if it starts to rank

What have you been doing to promote it?

And ditto on the Squidoo lenses - they are designed to be traffic funnels, and the backlinks are good because of the age and rank of Squidoo. Build Squidoo lenses on topics related to your site that would pre-qualify web searchers looking for information/products/services that you provide on your site.

if you are site is young chances of getting listed fast are slim. however i occasionally notice that a domain i registered an hour ago came up first ranking for a few weeks until it disappeared to the far pages.

im in the same boat as you man, got a site with tons of content im now at 900k alexa only traffic im getting is from digital point, ive built up quite a few backlinks naturally over the course of several weeks, 4-5 a every few days. Submitted to directories all search engines, article directories. Still no organic traffic. Im starting to think that google sandboxed my site, despite all the mysticism regarding the legendary "google sandbox theory". Bleh only hope my site gets picked up by some high pr credit card sites.

i ever experience this problem too with my site, my site not just doesn't show in the ranking, even it not show in the SERP. I ask my friends and he say, "just relax, it's just about time". And its true, about 3 week later my site show with my targetted keyword in top ten SERP.

I suggest you keep "hunting" for quality backlink to your site, because i think it's the most important offpage seo.

not just any backlinks. backlinks from PR3 above, and targetted. Blog commenting DOFOLLOW is the fastest result.

anything below PR3 is a waste of time.

Yup, I've done more research into my site and now i'm 100% sure googles algorithm uses SEARCHES to determine how much trust is required as my site is now top 10 for all my minor keys which have more competing pages than my main term. I never knew or suspected this but I'm confident this is going to sort itself out in the next week or so as the site is starting to rise.

    <<anything below pr3 is a waste of time>>

Totally untrue. My other site is top 10 for a really competitive niche and has only PR0 links. Keep in mind that most Pr0s are actually Pr 0.00000000001 or so. It all adds up

All of my keys are starting to perform. At number 18 for my 3rd key and 134 for my 2nd key, 200 for my 1st. It's happening, just low trust in google it seems. Can't wait!

That's good. I've always believe domain names being the first thing we should optimize for our keyword before looking for other factors.
