You guys have probably known or seen my many posts for over a year here, on different forums.

Let me tell you the facts from the beginning and you can see my problem.

I started a software business, launching it online in 2001
www.rb59.com/software

After being online for 5-6 years I average 240 uniques a day for tons of pages and content also.
-----------
I then launched a site about a subject I love called: cryptozoology
www.unknown-creatures.com
In 2005, as of today it averages 100 uniques a day.
-----------
I also have:
www.StopTheFleas.com
www.Fishing-Stringer.com
and more sites
------------
After all these sites, over 40 articles published to the top 50 article sites, numerous link exchanges over the years.

I am lucky to get 400 uniques a day total, my average for all sites combined for ypn is $3.00 a day, adsense $1.00

I just don't understand it, I have tried numerous paid search engine submission places, free classifieds, link exchanges, articles, local business cards and flyers on store bulleting boards, still hardly a trickle of traffic and earnings.

Please guys and gals help, What am I doing wrong, I work on my sites every day trying to make some extra bucks to enjoy life a little bit better for me and my daughter. How come the traffic is so hard to get ? I have been told I have some great domain names and nice sites, etc

I have been at this for 6 years and still not getting traffic etc....

I am almost ready to give up, and sell all the sites and business on ebay for $400.00 or whatever........:(

Thanks, only the one site uses frames, the www.rb59.com/software site, all the others use non frames, they look like frames, but are not, each page is a separate site etc, so each page has it's only keywords etc.

About www.unknown-creatures.com
First of all i would update design, i mean use simple design similar to default wordpress theme.
Position of your ads is great, but they do not blend with content so fix it, it shoud get you CTR of about 2%

For phrase "cryptozoology" you shuld get easily in top 10 or even top 5 with google, why aren't you there?

If you got into sandbox because proboably this is the only reason why you aren't at google, then if i were you i would start a blog at wordpress.com .Copy and paste first paragraph about every creature into your blog and after that write "full article at: www.unknown-creatures.com" (ofcourse use anchor) it should get you some traffic and not bad position at google.

You don't need quality links for this site so i advice you to go with linkmarket.net register there and wait people will start asking you for link exchange.

If you are interested i can add link to your site on my blogs (they are piece of crap anyway) but those links put me at top 5 with google on similar phrase (i mean concurency) without doing a thing, so i gues my links + linkmarket + some directories shuld rank you second because first place would require some time and money.

Ohh by the way, links on my free blogs are free.

--------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Greg

The ads were blended into the rest of the text and background of the cryptozoology site, and it gave me an average ctr of 0.3%, I just, within a week ago changed them to the colored red, green and blue ads, and now I am getting slightly more clicks.

It seems on some sites, if the ads don't look like ads, or something to click on, then people won't!

As far as not getting the top 10 position in Google for cryptozoology, I myself don't even understand it. I have had 10 articles released this year on the creatures of cryptozoology, to the top 50 article sites. I have many other crypto sites linking back to me, and still I am non existant for this site and my others in Google. MSN and Yahoo seem to love me, but I guess if your not hot in Google your traffic is non existant.

I will try the blog ideas you mentioned, and thanks for all your input

Hi

Here are a few things I see

http://www.rb59.com/creditcards/

http://www.rb59.com/software/

which are you selling??? Google is looking at you with an eyebrow raised.

Next your site designs are not going to instill confidence with your visitors so you are not getting referals from the uniques you do have and then the sites do not say come back and visit as most of it is one and done.

Next anchor links to your site are at best unrelevant

Thanksgiving Screensaver

St. Patrick's Day Screensaver

Battle At Sea

Boat and Canoe Renting

Next who links to your site does not look very reputable

b0e2c03bd7.t35.com/alabama/payday.html

b0e2c03bd7.t35.com/matiz-conejillo.html

download.addyour.net/Home-Hobby_Personal-Finance/ -

www.willingsoftware.com/pad/showpads.php?sort=Size&cat=Personal%20Interest::Finance:%20Stocks,%20Stoc...

check-credit-free-score.net/resources01.htm

Next your head tags title and meta keywords are spammed out......

This site http://www.unknown-creatures.com/ has all bold content on the front page... so the search engine disregards it.... as not everything written on a page is important or needs bolding

Next this site has no relation to the other so if you have cross linked them and the flea sites (where would this earn anyone money to buy a newspaper daily... let alone relax in life??)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I could probably dig around find other faults and issues but basically you seem to have done everything Google tells webmasters not to do, and in other areas it seems you were looking to grab money before building the foundation to your business properly.

Software is probably your best bet in terms of earning money via adsense...not too untrustworthy of a topic to Google where as everyone and their mother is going after credit card loans and such, and as such this makes Google a bit sqeemish and in no rush to help you.

I would dump the animal and flea sites (Advertisers are not paying premiums on these related keywords) and the credit cards and focus on the software angle...get a site redesign done, start a blog, participate in webmaster and software forums. (most major sites do not get traffic from search engines as much as links from other sites where quality help & advice is given or a reputation for quality is built) and focus on just your one niche.

Set goals in earnings $5.00 per day in a month, then $20.00 per day in three months, then $50.00 per day in 6 months.

Hate to be a downer on your businesses....but Id rather give it to you straight... than candy coat it and blow smoke up your you know where.....

For unknown creatures, it looks like the top 10 for cryptozoology are pretty strong. The topic is very academic so it tends to attract university types. I hope you are doing it for the love of unknown creatures because I don't see many advertisers wanting to go after cryptozoology.

I like the look of your site. nice and simple. the menu on the left shouldn't be so long maybe.

some peeps have given some great tips allready but i'll throw in my 2pence worth.

as crowebmaster said remove most of those keywords and just choose ones that are revelent to the home page. All of the other keywords will be used on other pages on your site.

think about rotating new content on the home page. something like 'unknown creature of the month' and post a link to the full article.

remove the non-related links in the footer. google knows they are all your sites.

you have a link 'main' for your home page. change it to Cryptozoology and use title tags for all your internal links.

use an online keyword density checker to make sure you have placed your keyword in evey article sufficiently. i'm not sure what the rule is, +5%?

your ad placement goes against the norm. people weren't clicking on them when you blended them because the page lacks structure, you need some boundries.

with the current ad color scheme, every user will notice the ad boxes but wont really notice the text in the ads.

good luck

Although I agree that the design of your site is nice and simple I think there are ways to improve it. Today the sites are getting more and more advance so anything that looks like a frontpage product evokes subconcious suspicion about the legitimacy/quality of the product offered. I would do a facelift of the site using dremweaver or golive. It may do wonders for you. Your product may be great but people look at the wrapping first.

Try optimizing your meta's and content...get the keyword relevancy UP! Ditch frames as well.

Blugill-Catcher, regarding classifieds, be very weary where you place your ads as links on some classifieds can count against you. Never use blasters they submit you site to FFA sites which work against you. I did that to one of my websites and rendered it useless.

Also if it's some income you're after, try something more popular than cryptozoology which you may be passionate about but not many people are hence very little traffic.

Also there are other ways of making money online than just having websites. Find out and explore your options

Don't give up yet, you have come to far to retreat.

All the best!
