we are trying to list my websites in dmoz, it is taking a very long time to get approved. in 2016 shall we relay on this.....?
It is what it has always been, an OK link to have; nothing more and nothing less. Getting a link will not make a site and not getting a link will not break a site. Its not worth sweating over. When you say "trying" what have you been doing? How many times did you submit? If you are unhappy with the service they providing, try and ask for a refund.
Lets clear one thing up ........you are "Suggesting" a site NOT submitting a site. The difference is that DMOZ do not guarantee that any site will be accepted, they do not even guarantee a review will take place because Volunteer Editors are urged to surf the net and find sites themselves, they are not forced or required to use the suggestion pools. At the moment he time span for reviews is currenty 1 day to many years. It should be noted that after suggesting a site, ANYTHING you do can only be detrimental to the review taking place and resubmitting the site again results in the time date being over written and the suggestion going to the bottom of the pool. The best thing is to suggest the site and move on and promote it by other means. Check the directory every 6-12 months and hopefully one day you will be surprised
Submit and forget about it. There is no guarantee of approval and it's not a magic bullet for rankings.
Don't expect something in return. I've done it twice or thrice but still no chance of getting listed. The best thing you can do is to look for other resources..
You answer is as good as mine. Is listing there still worth it? The answer is no. I have said it elsewhere, there are plenty of sites much better and responsive. That place has been long forgotten and totally neglected by its editors. By the way, if they do come back, the owner has to do some soul searching to overhaul the site. Today, by definition of link farm, the site's feature look like one. Classifieds or directory is a much preferred place because they display distinct pages for each advertisement (that publicizes a company website or services). On the contrary, Dmoz diplays a long list of direct links on the same page. This is not wise.
I have tried my every bit to get it approved, the editors are somewhat very slow..i even had word in their forum but in vain..they didn't even list india's biggest firms link(strange but true) .The suggestion seems not working. As sooks said..just suggest and forget. Tnx
I submitted twice but after learning more about Dmoz I stopped submitting it..I wento dmoz editors forum yet failed to get it approved , it will only happen organically hence now don't wasting my time now. Tnx
The situation is so obvious and i always laugh at it. People claim DMOZ is hopeless, a link farm, dead, outdated or whatever. But in the next breath of air they are crying because they cant get accepted, it takes years, or our standards are too high........... Well all of the various reasons your site isnt or hasnt been listed are one of the reasons that Google tends to show a bit more attention if you are listed in DMOZ....... we simply are unique and no one else operates a directory even close to rivalling DMOZ.
I have tried a lot. But still not able to be success on Dmoz listing. I didn't get any single approval yet.
How many times did you "try"? Submitting a site more than once is against the terms and conditions that you agree to when you submit. How do you think those who do not abide by the terms and conditions that they agree to should be treated?
Exactly, you must put in the effort to research each website for yourself - dmoz is only used by freebie hunters and spammers who don't have 2 pennies to rub together, yet play the game of 'big business' - when they clearly are not in that league.
Yeah, it true . I was been crazily involved to get a descent but powerful backlinks from dmoz, but Everytime I posted I never got anything in return. It seems they allow only for one those are highly active on Dmoz. So,instead of trying to comment which is not subjected to topic can force you to stay out of backlinks race fore sure. Better look for other quality blogs ,forums, social sites and few other ways.
Hi, I have one site listed in DMOZ, It took a while and not even sure today if it has helped. All the best
