Still another revamp... please critique :)

I've taken on board some of Dji's comments and re-redone www.hypnosisaudiocds.com

I'm relatively new to playing with CSS in this way, so any advice criticism etc will be greatly appreciated. There is some style code left in but I think I've pulled all of the CSS relevant to the overall consistent look of the site into a seperate CSS file

Hi Trance, site looks good, very organised into relevant sections, CSS validates though a couple of alt tags need placing on the home page. Do the buttons need to be a bit softer? As yet, undecided on that one, but a good job.

Now, how many more times are you going to tweak the design before you're satisifed with it :D

Ha, 14/09ers are perpetual tinkerers :D How about a new CD/MP3 entitled "It's finished, you can put it down now" LOL

Reduce the opacity of the gradients ... they are way too "hard"

    Hey... I'm a plant too :D

Well, that's what the test said anyway... I am not a finisher either...

    Have you done Myers Briggs?
    <on topic>

I pretty much agree with everything above...

I would also change the borders of the tables that are below the fold... Maybe to a colour that is found on the rest of the site or something...

    <way off topic>LOL choose your plants dudes - "We want a shrubbery"</way off topic>

Table borders, 0 or white? They always look fatter in FireFox - could be nearly time to go full on CSS here.

    <way way off topic>"A Shrubbery?!?!"</way way off topic>

Yeah, they do look fatter in FF... Maybe just give them a border 1px (whatever color here)...

Seriously - I would personally always go with CSS all the way.

Tables are just too messy IMHO...

But let's not start that discussion shal we ;)

I'd like to pursue that... I currently hard code html in effectively text editors, but as I get more into CSS, I can see that getting more complicated. What would you recommend writing CSS driven sites in?

Personally, I write it all by hand.

I do know that there are some editors out there that will do the leg work for you, but to me they just seem like a waste of time.

I can do it all by hand just as quickly as I would be able to do with a bit of software to help me.

I write all of my stuff in TextPad. I really like the program.

Again, there are editors that take some of the hard work out for you, but I like to do it all by hand.

The visited links used to show up orange... blagghh... while the hover link was a rather nice deep violet :)

I've changed the visited links to the deep violet and the hover link to a more luminescent version... but what I'm wondering is this...

Do you think it works that way round... or
would it be better to have unvisited links in the deep violet and visited links in the blue?

(where's the smiley for scratching your head? )

The first thing I see is the font you use in the naviagtion, it's not the right font and maybe toy have to align the words in the center, seems like they are aligned on the bottom? I would put the Trance-formation CD Catalogue section on a different page not on the main page! Good luck ;)

Thanks Ber|Art... I had given some thought to moving the catalogue... it was a hangover from my original site design that its on the front page, but it is not an elegant solution... I may well take your advice on that:) (shouldn't make a difference to sales as the site is more navigable now)

I'll look at alignment too... what do you think is the problem with the font?

The font used in the NavBar is buging me, I would not underline the words and maybe use Verdana or something (just try some different font in your CSS) also the color blue seems to blue I would take the dark purple color as in your top. Not the "Ugly" purple you used for Hypnosis MP3 and CD Product Catalogue, this has to go this color is totally not maching any of the other colors.

Good luck, and if you have any questions please ask...

The ugly purple is my "visited link" colour.... because thats an internal page reference, it seems to show up straight away for the catalogue link.

When you refer to the dark purple, do mean the colour that's used in the logo image for the words Hypnosis MP3s and CDs?

Well you would do that if you wanted to rank about 10,000th on google.

Dont move it mate..thats half your content gone..half your keywords...and half your revenue...and gives you the headache of yet another page to optimise
