Step to setup web server

    please share your knowledge setting up web server step by step.
    from hardware to software..
    like if any one want to setup his own web server or setup any hosting server guide the rest. with setup im starting it please complete the steps..

    i never run any server but according to me.. u must have dual core with atleat 2gb ram and 180gb hrd disk..

    need server edition windows can say 2003 server..
    install Apache PHP and MySQL.

    Are you looking at buying all new components, and building then co-locating your own server? If so, your budget will need to be $xxxx if you want the kind of setup that you've outlined above.

    Get hardware according to your requirements (apps you wanna run/load), colocate it at the dc or your home (not quite feasible solution though).

    I'd recommend centos linux. You can install apache, php, mysql using a single yum command. Easy to update and maintain. This is for experienced people though; else you need a control panel like cpanel, etc.

    okie i downloaded it..
    then what .. after installing just want to complete steps to setup a web server with simple wording so every one can understand and share the procedure..
    coz i want to setpup and test a private web server..

    after that what should i do ..
    and how can i test any script like freephpld to test it working and. any cp to test?
    what about perl

    I have another recommendation as well, Apache2Triad. I've used it before, and it works good as well.
