I wrote this for a landing page a couple months ago but never ended up promoting the product. So I figured I'd post it here so maybe someone could use it. (Don't worry...no affiliate links! All straightforward content!) Hope this helps! Good luck, guys! -------------------- Organic search engine optimization is the purest form of optimizing your website for the benefit of the search engines while still retaining interest for your site visitors. It’s exactly the thing that search engines are looking for in a website, and once they find it, they will reward your site with better rankings and improved positions within the search engine results pages. Step 1 – Analyze your competition This is the best way to start optimizing your website! Look at the Top 10 pages on Google for your chosen keywords and try to see how they got their rankings. Look at: what keywords they are using their source code and meta tags their keyword density their comment tag, alt tags, and title tag internal and external links on their websites how many pages they have how many sites are linking to them the quality and link popularity of sites linking to them Step 2 – Start to improve your website with quality content Make sure to always use keyword in the meta tags which are reflected in your page. Relevancy is important! Step 3 – Choose the right keywords Don’t just copy your competition! Do your own research with tools like WordTracker. Step 4 – Create meta tags: the TITLE tag The Title tag is the most important because it appears in the head section of your website and as the first line in the search engines. Make it short (about 14 words), descriptive and to the point. Step 5 – Create meta tags: the DESCRIPTION tag The next important meta tag is the Description tag. It describes content of your web page for the search engines. (Your viewers won’t see it.) Keep it to a max of 120 characters. Step 6 – Create meta tags: the KEYWORD tag Enter the 5 most important keywords, separated by commas, that represent your website or post. Each keyword should have 1-3 words. Step 7 – Create meta tags: the ROBOT tag <META name=Robots content=â€index, followâ€> <META name=GOOGLEBOT content=index, follow> Step 8 – Check your website URL before submitting to search engines Before search engine submission, make sure there are no errors: no broken links no spelling mistakes have a good design no html tag mistakes have a site map Step 9 – Submit your website to the search engines Submitting your website to the most important search engines will bring you the most of traffic. Here are just a few suggestions: Google Yahoo Altavista AllTheWeb Excite Lycos WebCrawler Alexa Jayde WhatUSeek Open directory DMOZ Yahoo directory Step 10 – Build your link popularity Link popularity (also known as backlinks) is the number and quality of other websites that link to your site. Top rankings depend on your link popularity. You can increase this by creating quality links from related web sites and Internet directories, blogs, and forum sites.
