The rest of the guide you can just pick up and read when you need it! This was originally part of a “how to “that I was selling for £300 + to those already in the business of online dating. And it was not going into any of the basic stuff... so I have had to do a little bit of a rewrite. It covers a few new, and untapped methods that I have found during my 8 years doing this type of thing . What I am going to explain are the basic steps you need to take to start your own online dating business, you don’t need ANY cash up front to actually get started, nor do you really need specific web skills. Then I am going to explain some of the methods that I use to drive traffic and therefore paying customers to my own online sites. These methods are not site specific so can be used on any site, and you don’t need to do them all. BUT i suggest that you do read through this guide at least once before you start. I have included a weekly checklist at the end- and provided that you fill all of the boxes over a 4 week period i am certain that you will start to see returns, and that these returns will continue to grow over the coming months and weeks. For providing the above they take a percentage of the income generated, but to be honest I think its a very fair trade off. They offer full support, and advice and you can give Dan or Lisa a ring at anytime with any problems... Once you have signed up and decided how you want them to pay you, you need to chose your site name and the type of audience that your aiming to attract. To do this,- unless you have already researched your subject- I suggest you look at GOOGLE TRENDS PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU RESEARCH YOUR THEME! You need a ‘niche’ site, in that you need to be different from the rest. There are hundreds if not thousands of really big and well established sites trying to get the same customer you are. You need to come up with something that not everyone is doing. Wheather that be “www,singlecatlovers.com†or “www,imintosatin,com†you NEED to be different! GOOGLE TRENDS is a free service that lets you look at the frequency a particular term is searched for on the internet and who searches for it. Giving you an idea of whether your site will be picked up and by how many people. Also do a google search of your word/site name to see how much competition you have. Once you have completed your site and are happy with the name you can move onto promotion.. IT’S THAT EASY! The main factor in the success of your site is the promotion, the more places your site is shown the better! There are TONS of ways to promote your site, I am going to list the ones that I use and are most effective in some detail, and give examples of others that I know of and a link of where to find further info. You will need a set of relevant KEYWORDS through out this guide, so its a good idea to look at that before anything else, you should have seen a few when you looked at GOOGLE TRENDS, but here is another freebie, HERE save these to notepad..so you can cut n paste at will! 1) Search engines and optimisation Also see SEO Register your site: You have to register your site with the major search engines, This will allow your site to be ‘found’ in searches for your site name or content type. To register your site you simply go the search engine you want to register with and type “register url†here is the registration page of GOOGLE for an example.. you will want to register with YAHOO, MSN, ASK, LYCOS... and any other S/E you can think of, they are all free, but you may need to make a free account to register a site on some of them. Optimise your front page: Again, once your site is registered ( it may take a few days to show properly) you will need to make sure that its attractive to the search engines, there are free tools on the internet, to help with this, But there is also an option inside your WDP management area- I tend to use this in the first instance. You will see on your Business management page a link to help with getting your site picked up for your “KEYWORDS†or meta tags, in natural searches. Enter this and input keywords and a description of your site, to choose your keywords you can use a free keyword generator, HERE then cut and paste into the box below and SAVE. 1a) backlinks and web presence Your next job is to get some BACKLINKS, again really easy. But time consuming- you will need a good number of backlinks 200+, some sites have thousands! The basics of a backlink are that it is a link to your website on another website- the more sites that the search engines see referring to your site the better your RANKING is the general rule, but be a bit selective.. some sites are regarded as crappy... i.e sites with just links on them ‘link farms’ and I tend to avoid these. To find places to put your link you google your own key words and try to find forums and blogs that relate to the theme of your site. You join up and post a link (your own url) to your site with a quick explanation as to why the site is so good.. Remember to add your own url to your signature on each forum too, that way you get more backlinks.. To check your backlinks once your up and away you can use this FREE TOOL This is the result for EBAY!! Forums/blogs/newsgroups Because you have already started with your backlinks, you should already have this one sewn up, BUT don’t give up linking to your site! your link provides another free source of traffic, members of the forums etc have already got an interest in your site, keep going back and plonking your link on the forum reminding them why your site is so good! You tube, flicker etc: Another good example of free advertising is using video/picture sharing sites to get your URL ‘out there’ Just simply build a simple video using windows movie maker for example. And upload it all over the place! HERES one I made a while ago, its still bringing me traffic! HERE is a FREE tool to upload a video to ALL OF THE VIDEO sites listed and some, ALL AT ONCE , again for FREE Youtube gets millions of hits each day, and the best way to ensure that you get some of that traffic is to upload several films- you can upload 10 films a day- every day! If you do this for a month you have ~280 films and i know that you will see massive FREE traffic from this. You will need to tweak your film each time as youtube may think its identical if its the same length and not show it.. just change the title and length of the video a little each time. Facebook/myspace/bebo Again a no brainer, just set up a group on facebook etc aimed at people that may want your site/content and load it with your link, and invite a few people.. hopefully it will ripple. In any case search for competition, look for anyone with a similar group, and JOIN.. drop your link in the links page, your video in the video page AND start a topic around this ‘great site you have found... drop back and redo this once your knocked off the top 1-3 spot, at least once a month. Yahoo groups/tribe.net etc Any group or meeting place is a potential goldmine! If you cant find a group that would be interested in your site MAKE ONE! Gumtree/vivastreet/Craigslist Another good source of traffic is the free ads sites, however there is a lot of competition and the sites don’t like you to advertise a service..... There is a way around that- some class what I about to explain as “grey hat marketing†in that it could be a little dubious, and it is frowned up openly ( but I know most marketers, have used it at least once... because its extremely effective!!) Here is a full guide of a grey hat technique... read through it at least once so you know the principal before you start. Grey hat- is a term i use for slightly underhand marketing techniques that I have used in the past You may well have seen used this before, are may think it too dodgy for you but hey - I think it could help your adult/dating sales so here goes.... ( no pen and paper needed ) You will need ~15 mins spare time 1 new hotmail address with a catchy ring ie "spankme247-365@hotmail.com' (opened with a female name- but not your own!) Once you've got that your ready to go! (i said it was easy!) The basic principle it this - offer the donkey a carrot then at the end of the journey give him a turnip - he will generally eat it anyway. PHASE 1 open your new hotmail account, and set it to auto reply (vacation reply i think you guys call it in the US) remembering to tick the REPLY TO ALL tab at the bottom Now fill your vacation reply with this text ( or similar) red denotes changed or deletions you need to make prior to posting, depending on colloquialisms etc " Geeez! I have never been so popular! Sorry for the auto reply, but I am getting an email every hour and am finding it hard to keep up! ( it will be more than this but- the illusion of fewer replies helps reel em in) I have uploaded some recent pictures of me HERE ( add your url to this ) with a video too, could you please look me up and send me a pick of you and a little info about yourself if you like what you see.. my username is ( anything you like ) I will be on line at around XX:XX most days if you want to chat via the messenger or webcam ( always a nice touch) options on the site.. " NOW SAVE there is a little extra trick you can do here, but i am pushed for time-- IF you are going to use this then drop me a line asttony@hotmail.c.uk to let me know and i will let you know how to refine it to provide the means to yet another good 'grey hat' method after a few weeks of using this.. PHASE 2 You will be placing a rather suggestive add on your local Gumtree.com in the personals>casual encounters>women seeking men section.( the same for vivastreet craigslist backpage etc it should read something like (maybe you have a better imagination? ) Title : home alone.. wanting company... Body of the add: I have found myself home alone over the next week as my flatmate (room mate ?) is away seeing relatives, and have decided to act out a fantasy or two while she is away. Im looking for 1 or 2 guys who are clean, between 21 and 47 and that have a great sense of adventure/fun If your free over the next week drop me a line as I can accommodate xSx Thats it, doing this on a Thursday/Friday and Saturday after 2pm will get your THOUSANDS of responses. A top level domain is basically www.something,com rather than the ww.something.something,com Im going to cover in this section.. 1)getting a free top level domain 2)linking that to your site 3)getting cheaper adwords. 1)Getting a top level domain is a must if you are going down the SEO route, Google doesn’t like sub domains, and would always prefer a www,whatever.com to a www,whatever.summottelse.andsome.com Besides, It can be easier to remember, and looks better as a link.. Getting a free domain is easy, just type ‘office live’ into google and follow the free webpage links , as Microsoft will give you free hosting, domain and web page building stuff. Or click HERE Once you have your domain, start on your site.. really simple… just build a site with tons of RELEVANT content, don’t just lift it from WIKI though!!.. or if you do, chop it up and swap it round a bit ;-) Make sure your keywords and links are on the page(s)! to get yourself a few free back links.. Save and then submit your new URL to the search engines, same as before... 2) Next you need to link that to your WDP site… again really easy, forget DNS servers and all that…. Simply cut and past this little bit of code into your keyword/SEO TAB page properties> SEO>keyword %22%20%2F%3E%3Cmeta http-equiv=%22refresh%22 content=%225; url=http://redirected.com/location.htm (REPLACE WITH YOUR URL....) Now you have the choice…. You either redirect in 1 second ( meaning the potential customer never sees your new site) or you can have them read your content and THEN jump on them with a redirect… simply change the number in bold ( it represents time) 3) This is a no brainer, but still worth a mention. If your using adwords, then tie that to your top level site, then use adsense to generate cash out of google for clicks, off setting some of the cost of your adwords. If your site is niche, then your adwords cost should be quite low. On the other hand, if your market is adult, then the ppc you will getting will be reasonably high. I know what your thinking.. I don’t want to pay! .. I can assure you that it can pay off very well! There is not really much I can add to this section as im not wanting to see anyone waste money. Paid advertsing is a little hit and miss but can work wonders too! Im not going to advocate you use a specific ad provider, but I Generally use GOOGLE ADWORDS. READ BELOW AND THEN READ THROUGH THE ADWORDS HELP PAGES TOO! The main points are: • know your market, don’t try to sell NO STRINGs SEX to Tibetan monks- target your ads to a place that you think the culture lends itself to your site . • Research your keywords, make sure that the key words your are bidding on are relevant to your site, unlike before when you were getting free ads/keyword your paying per word here.. less can be more • Set a reasonable budget, don’t exceed what you set out to spend. £55 is a good starting point for 1 month, once you have spent that and paid, GOOGLE will usually give you a £200 credit line that you can play with..
