Hi, I am a new user of DP. I am still not very familiar with DP but had a great hope on this Forum. I already got many jobs through this forum and worked. The clients in generally ask for work, I do it and then they pay and run away. They never give feedback even after requesting them for it. And so my I-Trader is still "0". But that is alright as long the buyer is paying. Recently a got a mail from a buyer called "steffun" He asked me to do some photoshop work for him. It was 80 pictures and pay was $40. I agreed. i am a poor guy. Struggled a lot worked hard and day/night. I returned complete work within 3 days. I send him a screen shot of my work. But he asked for the pictures and promised me to pay. I trusted on him and send my hard work. Since then there is no reply from him. I send him numerous message via DP and gmail. But he do not respond. Please help me. Please advice me what I can do?
I'm sorry to hear that, I'll see what I coul digg up for you. Is his name "Steffun" here on DP? Also what his Gmail? -Zeke
I feel sorry for you, dude. Hey, at least you didn't actually have real money stolen from you, the jerk just took advantage of you. Perhaps its time to write up some sort of contract so that in the future nobody is screwed over without some form of safety net.
Why report it to a moderator? They have nothing to do with a private business deal. Seriously, what do you expect them to do? It is a waste of yours and the moderators time to report it.
honestly, there is no chance that you can get your hard-earned money. this is the risk we take as online professionals, we don't have a way to tell if the employer is legit.
Its a problem that all of us have faced when it comes to outsourcing. Sometimes you even do great work and still get a bad review. Here is what I would do....move on. But, thanks for letting everyone know. At least he wont be able to hire someone else in the near future. But, if you leave him bad feedback, he will do the same for you...I learned the hard way. But, its all good....
Just thought I would add his DP profile. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=428603 He is quite new also. My advice as a freelancer get at least 50% up front.
Unfortunately, this happens a lot. The best way to deal with it is to prepare for this kind of thing happening in advance. Do try to get some payment up front before transferring all of your work and do try to have a written contract in case disputes do arise. In this case it looks as though you have simply been ripped off and there is very little you can do about it. Leave him bad feedback and post these details with his username and email in a few places to warn others
The problem with leaving bad feedback is that he can retaliate with bad feedback for you. Take a look at my feedback, you will see what I mean. I just wanted to let others know that its best just to move on. But, do post your experience with him here and other places also. This way you have warned others.
I just thought I'd post his name and location, havent had time lately, but I'll see if I could aquire his actual address.. Stefan Bezman - Bucharest, Romania
This is what iTrader is made for. Just give him a negative iTrader. Also buyers always gives me iTrader, I wonder why they didn't for you.
To the OP I am sorry to hear your story but seriously, the guy in question is a complete newbie. How could you trust him by giving him the work completely with atleast half payment first. If it was a reputable member then maybe you fret later but for newbie members like steffun unless you already know him before never trust them completely. I doubt you can much about this though maybe DP members can try to track him a bit. However just take this as a lesson and be more cautious the next time. I know because my first deal on DP was with someone who looks pretty normal (not that reputable but not a newbie) and I was scammed. Took that as a hard lesson and you should too. Goodluck
glasslook sorry to hear man ... but you should always protect your self. This is like going for a wet night out in Bangkok where I happen to live, without a pack of Durex in your pocket Kidding aside, either by asking for 50% payment up front or a very easy way is to deliver all the work with a big fat WATERSTAMP all over each picture plus reduce the resolution. He can visualize the work you have done, but he can't possibly use it for commercial purposes. We learn as we go along ...
Hi there! I've just saw this thread. I asked this guy to do the job as he said and he said it will be done in 3 days. I asked him on friday. And when I sent him an email on Monday he said that the work it's not ready. and he wasn't even started and I told him that i don't need it anymore because he didn't keep his word and I needed the files on Monday. Anyway after a few days he sent me the email with files and asking for the money. I didn't even open the file. I am rich now with his $40 stolen.
Hi...hilarious brother...great...Now lets pove it.. hi please send me the files so I can send the payment. thanks Stefun --- On Wed, 6/16/10e, Glass <glasslook2002@gmail.com> wrote: From: Glass <glasslook2002@gmail.com> Subject: RE: Watermark removing To: "'stefun'" <steffun00@yahoo.com> Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 2:21 AM Hi, 80 Pictures completed.
