Stay away from this scammer

I think that you are being a little hard on highflyer here. It is very common that people that post on forums accept that they don't need to do much proof-reading of what they write here - it's one of the features of this sort of place. I bet few best-selling authors write perfect prose in every e-mail and forum post they type, so why judge highflyer's quality of work on a hastily typed forum post?

 

thanks for the advice paul. when i post here or on my blog, i'm writing informally, which is why i tend to leave out the apostrophe's. i agree with what you're saying though, but my formal writing is obviously different - and im pretty sure you wont be able to find ANY mistakes in the professional copy i write.

I'm not judging him, Matt, I am trying to be of some assistance (I do see he corrected "psychadelic"). His stock in trade is that he is a writer - in other words, it's his business. He is free to take or leave my advice; it was intended as entirely friendly. But as the thrust of his thread was on how he was unfairly treated, and as he indicates he writes for a living, the number of errors I saw on this thread, on his blog, and on the thread he referenced didn't help him. As I said. I acknowledge it is a pet peeve of mine. i tire of c'ing peeps riting comp-u-speek az substitoot 4 language, nowhaddimene? But, especially so, if one's business is a copywriting business.

An analogy: what if I were a graphic artist, similarly scammed...and my avatar was an unfinished, poorly executed piece of work. How much credence might be given to the poster's lament?

Just my way, I guess - everything is practice. If I am a writer, then every word I set down matters, and whatever I do, in whatever venue, will show itself in all my work. Strictly my opinion, and highflyer can take it as helpful or toss it as drivel, of course. I am sure he has a loyal and much deserved following.

 

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but all us newbies thank anyone who will point us away from the scammers. So your bad experience does help someone else from making the same mistake.

 

Northpointaiki makes valid points and offers excellent advice to Highflyer, imo.

If I were hiring a writer or making a recommendation to anyone else, as I have done previously, I would find it very difficult to find an example of Highflyer's writing I could say was of the standard required, based on this forum and his blog.

I could. But why bother? I already know writers who will deliver the goods so why should I take the time to chase you down to see if you are up to par by asking for a sample? Plus, how do I know that the sample you provide is your work and not that of someone else?

I'm not trying to say you produce shoddy work or anything but these are the questions I would ask myself if I was considering you for work and quite frankly, based on the forum posts and the single post on your blog, I would look elsewhere.
