without any notification they started charging $24.95 per month as gold membership. I just saw they charged me 24.95 $ which was 19.95 $ before. It is rubbish. they are robbing openly. The company is flood with robbers now when it is moved from Sweden to Australia. It was great before when it was wholly owned by Plendo Sweden AB. Before 1 year they used to charge just 12$ for gold membership and no commission on won projects. Now within 1 year they raised the rates just double. rubbish. and the most unlawful thing is they never send even a notification to users that they will start charging 24.95$ from next payment cycle. I'm thinking to take legal action against this company this is not just bcz I lost $5 but this is bcz they earned like 50K with this rise and I'm sure they are many gold members there. Any guy who is located in Australia can contact me and I really want to take legal action against this company. Also every guy plz post against this thing on every public forum or their facebook page here:- http://www.facebook.com/fansoffreelancer?ref=ts#!/fansoffreelancer?ref=ts Why these big companies thing they can do whatever they want and why we should bear all the time?
Then stop using them. Problem solved. You don't need to go sue them over $5, and if you try to sue for something higher, the judge would have to be extremely stupid to grant that claim.
If they didn't inform you of their price increase then that is pretty bad and you should ask for your money back, but raising prices is not illegal or unlawful. Apart from that, move on and don't use them if you don't like them.
It is pretty low of them to give no notice of the price increase. Do they have terms of service listed on their site? That may include wordage explaining that prices are subject to change. You have to look out for that. I would contact them and voice your displeasure...then stop using their service.
There's a number of negative reviews scattered around in relation to Freelancer.com, Google is your friend.
You not reading notification doesn't mean notification isnt given. Look at the number of tests that are done on consumers about reoccuring charges and you will see people frequently fall into these kinds of "issues".... this is why companies love using auto renewing products. If your not happy with the new price, cancel the subscription. I cannot see it being worth while the cost of going to court for the sake of $5
I submit bids on freelancer.com projects often. I get some interest emails/questions- however have never won a bid. I am a "free" user. Not having a membership-- can that affect why I may not win bids? Q...
thanks for advice, just stop using it and your problem is solved , why to waste your money and time by taking legal actions..
Of cause, your not willing to "risk" your money on the service, why should your potential clients "risk" their money (and time) on you? Likewise, no wins = no feedback = high risk.... the usual vicious circle that success breeds success
I come from a background where head hunters get the bonus to have me as the client if I sign with a company. Not where I pay the head hunter. I also have notable tools-- that are well known. Q..
But your not the client, your the service provider hence why your paying "the head hunter", though in reality the site is a market place not a head hunter. Like a market place those selling the goods/ services pay to have a stall and not the potential customers who come into the market to see whats for sale (though naturally the stall holders include their overheads in the price of the items).
I like odesk the best... elance sometimes, but odesk is pretty awesome. Be patient while interviewing and make sure to choose the right people...
The fact that you're generating interests from buyers only means that you're close to getting your first project. Being a free user has nothing to do why you're not selected. I beleive it has more to do with the bidding amount. Your aim now is to obtain your first positive feedback and it is only possible if you can win your first project. My advise is bid as low as you can and get that first positive feedback. Once you'll get it, things would be easy from that point on.
Do you have your Freelancer public profile filled out properly? Is your portfolio linked or shown on Freelancer.com so buyers can review it? Price isn't always the case for a buyer to choose a winning a bid. Its provider being able to explain themselves & what they can deliver to the buyer to win their trust when you have no feedback rating. Keep going at (submitting bids) and don't give up.
