I own 10 dedicated servers at three different hosts. I moved a windows box from liquidweb to cari.net because liquidweb didn't have competitive pricing and my machine was experiencing hardware difficulties which support failed to resolve. In the end the drive failed, but only afgter I had set upa new account at cari.net. My salesperson at cari.net assured me that situation would never aoccur at cari.net. I took the bait and signed up. The setup process was very fast and the server screaming fast, no more hardware issues. All seemed well. Until last night when my primary drive experienced an issue and was predicted to fail. 24 hours+ later, the support team at cari.net has been the worst I have ever ever ever encountered. My machine is still down, my drives are now both bad and all during this time they made up more excuses than I could ever relate. They are rude, inconsiderate and complete pompous jerks. If you have an account with cari, net, PRAY you never have a hardware problem because a simple hardware issue will turn into a complete nightmare. My application is still down. and they are still trying to get the data off the drives they corrupted. Today I went with softlayer.com and bought a new server with Raid 1 scsi drives and 24x7 monitoring. I will make backups of the backups to a remote site. I will never trust two drives, and never trust technicians at a hosting company. I encourage everyone to stay as far away as you can from cari.net and any of their affiliated companies. Be forwarned, it seems all fine and dandy until you run into problems, and then you will ask God for patience because you will need it when dealing with the clowns at cari.net
I have to disagree!!!! I got a screaming deal with Cari.net services over a year ago, in addition I got the backup service. Back in April my box got hacked. I paid for the OS reinstall and restore my site from the latest backup. I was up and running within 4 hours. What really impressed me was when I called in and asked if they could expedite the OS reinstall.... I was amazed, 10 minutes later I had a new screaming system with no DNS changes. I have had some interesting tech support responses. When I inquired I found out that some of Cari.net technical support is in Tijuana, which explained the broken English.
Cari.Net is the best dedicated servers I have ever used and personally use it on my main blog http://zedomax.com. Well, I think the problem here is that you are using Windows, why r u still using Windows servers? They are bound to crash and cause problems for harddisks. Use Linux, fedora or Ubuntu. duh~
Well we all know cari.net is bad. But Windows is also a problem. Serious hosts just use centos or debian linux. Most more stable.
Well, what I like most about Cari.Net is the fact that they will credit you anytime it's not your own fault: http://www.cari.net/sla.html You will have to open a case and send a detailed info to get credit but I have gotten credit for anytime my server has been down in the past. I don't mind my server being down for couple hours, just so long as I get credit to offset my Adsense losses during those hours.
Well, if you get credited more or less the same you're losing, it's great. But some people may lose literally tens of sales due to a half hour downtime - and it's not tens of dollars but hundreds. But I have to recognize that very few companies actually credit you for any network outage. Do network outages occur very frequently @ cari.net?
No outages don't happen ever, maybe hardware failure here and there. But yes, you could be losing thousands of dollars easily but credit is better than nothing.
Update: Cari.net is average I would say, I have actually moved most of my sites from Cari.net to another hosting company.
