I received a payment for a website via PayPal but the payment won't be cleared for another 2 weeks. Should I send the website or wait for the payment to clear?

Wait for the payment to clear, I think they can cancel the payment, but not sure. It is safer to wait for the payment to clear though.

Better wait for it to clear. Saves you the hassle of filing a claim just incase the payment does not push through.

It is always advisable to wait until funds getting cleared in your paypal account for hasslefree deal.

Ok, thanks everyone. I knew to wait but I just wasn't sure. This is like only the second time I got a payment like that.

Thats most probably an eCheck payment. Such payments cannot be cancelled by buyer, but these are canceled if th bank doesn't authorizes the transaction or doesn't accepts paypal's request to cash it :)

Then why don't you send him PM or email (paypal email address) that you'll complete deal once e-check getting cleared.

Yea... I completed a big project a while back, he sent me a bank transfer payment and it never cleared, I waited 2 weeks. And that gave him enough time to disapear completely.

Normally an eCheck needs between 5 to 10 days to clear. After it is cleared I think it will be the same like with a standard "account-to-account-transfer" so the a chargeback can be filled within 90 days after payment (I think it have been 90 days). So I don´t see a need to wait till it is cleared, if you would want to be on the secure side with no need to worry about a chargeback you would have to hold the funds 90 days then and then give the site. So you are not even a little bit more safe I think.

But if your customer is willing to wait till the eCheck is cleared then there is no need to give it earlier unless you can trust him blind because of his/her itrader (getjimmy for example (and really only for example ;-))

Maybe its better to wait. To make it sure your transaction was safe.
But if it is an e-check it was secured.

Its an eCheck it doesn't mean its safe. It can still be denied, like the Bank etc.
