Thanks for all your answers, webgenesis!

I'd like to ask one more thing regarding your ringtone business. Do you have your own landing pages or do you do straight linking?

You're welcome! I own my own LP... it will be nearly impossible to market ringtones via PPC with direct linking...

Does anyone here make money from the big keywords like 'verizon ringtones', or are the majority using their own ways of going about it?

I have sent 100's of clicks and have gotten 0 conversions and then I have sent 100 clicks and got 10 conversions so it is all relative. And there is not a difference between ad networks a offer is an offer. If there is fly cell on azoogle it is still fly cell on neverblue ads. People think there is this big conspiracy against them.

Just look at the offer bidding policy.

    1. Do no use the word “Free”
    2. Do not use the terms No Charge, No Cost, Bonus or any other term to mean Free
    3. The only promotional term allowed for giving away Ringtones (or any other Mobile content) is
    “Complementary”
    4. Do not mention Flycell within any web page, creative, links or SEM placements
    5. Do not use fields where date can be entered. Do not use graphics that make it look like data can be entered.

    You can bid on carrier

You might want to try doing a search for say, 'verizon ringtones', and look at the first page of sponsored results. They're mostly affiliates.

When you send 100 visitors to FlyCell via PrimaryAds and get 8 conversions and then send 100 visitors of the same quality to FlyCell via Azoogle the next day and get 0 conversions, something probably isn't right. That might be Azoogle's fault...it might be FlyCell's fault...but something isn't working. I've learned in the ringtone business that things don't work logically most of the time.

That being said, I'm back with Azoogle and last weekend was my best ever. Great conversion rates + an increase in traffic made for a spectacular 3 days.

PPC is a weird thing. I think its weird how you can constantly get conversion after conversion for a few days then just drop. But you could just get unlucky and get targeted uninterested people. Affiliate marketing is half luck anyways.

    webgenesis,

Sorry, have to ask a really newbie question? Why it's impossible for direct linking? Really want to know...

    Thank you.

It's not impossible for you to direct link... Google doesn't allow it (but you can get away with it on certain campaigns anyhows :D) and Yahoo does allow it.

For unsaturated niches (no competition), you can get away with direct linking, as there is nobody who is going to be challenging your QS and allthat other stuff.

FOr saturated niches like dating, ringtones, paycheck advance, etc... it is NEARLY impossible to direct link, because there are so many competitors who are bidding on your keywords... and they have LP's with alot of content.
