Stats vs. Google

Today I was checking out my stats, and I have the following recorded versus what google is reporting:

    I use statcounter:

    Yesterday
    2,101 vs. 600

    Today
    1,662 vs. 280

It's a pretty big varriance considering my eCPM is pretty high, like more than $40.

So just wondering if anyone else has had this in the past.

    Is this impressions or clicks?

Ah, my guess then is that it is maybe your statcounter is counting individual ad impressions, while your Google stats are describing page impressions?

The weird thing is that my uniques are more than the impressions listed by google, which is really weird, I am just wondering if this is just a working total and will be updated at a later time.

That's possible, though, too not every unique will generate a page impression, for example, spiders, bots, etc etc.

I have firm belief that statcounter stats are little bit inflated (when I compare them to my analytics stats)

2 people with firefox's adblock or similar installed.
2 times when Alternate Url or Color shown instead of the Ad.

Are you comparing like for like?

    Is it:
    1. statcounter vs google analytics?
    2.statcounter versus adsense stats?

In the case of 1 - are both statcounter and google analytics code on every page?

In the case of 2 - is statcounter on everypage while only some pages have adsense on them?

I think number 2 is it. I have a lot of web 2.0 users, and these users are most likely to have adblocking technology. So I believe your the winner.

Statcounter is free, and with all free things, you get what you pay for. Statcounter is not very bright, so I wouldn't depend on its numbers for anything except getting a general feel. (Added: Even the NOT free Statcounter version is equally undependable; it just gives you more options.)
