Stats to compare different online advertising methods

    Hi all,

im writing a paper about online advertising, and looking for a (free?) source for stats about different methods used in this field. Comparing SEM vs Affiliate M., or PPC vs CPA, or the use of traditional banner methods against viral marketing etc.

I know some of these things are not even comparable in simple 1vs1 terms, but u get the point. Maybe how different methods catch people's attention.. or how is the ROI turning out.. or how much effort those need vs each other..

    Any info is very welcome.

    Thanks,
    Ardi

Ardi it might be best to actually conduct the tests yourself so that you know the results are "real".

You can compare different advertising methods through ROI.

Perhaps you can start a blog and experiment from there. Nothing beats actual experience I'd say. Good luck with your report which if you really wanna cover all aspects... I think this is going to be an ultra long one. :)

I think he is looking for a wide range of stats somewhere, not to use his own and call it a day. Most research papers are based upon a lot of data, collected over time, from multiple (hundreds) of sources. That way you don't have statisticians saying your data could be a statistical anomaly(they love doing that)

You can start your own blog for sure and test some things, but in terms of a research paper, probably not a good idea to just base your paper on your one experience.

I'm not sure where to get that sort of data from very easily. But what you can do is use this thread as a way to get data. It won't be verified, but ask the users here what there experiences have been. Make sure they can tell you what sites they are referring to when they give their experiences.

    But anyway, good luck!
