Statistics for the mailto: link

    Hello,

    Does anybody know where I can find some legitimate statistics of Internet users? Specifically:

    The number of users that have an email client (such as Outlook) configured on their computer.

    I want to analyze the effectiveness of the mailto: link on websites, other than an opportunity for spammers to troll for addresses within these mailto HREF tags.

    I have a personal opinion, but would love some concrete backup.

    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

    Here is a link to a blog that indicates Outlook holds about 60% deployed market share..

    My guess is that's about right. There is a study by the Radicati group mentioned in the blog that should have your answer. (Link was broken)

    Best;

    Thanks Eric, I'll try to speak to Radicati group (the source of the stats). But, has anybody come across the specific "users who have email clients configured" statistics in any articles?
