state bank of india credit card settlement issue

I used state bank of india credit card. They never send me any monthly statement. Lots of surprise fees . End result , my card was blocked , because i wasnt able to pay them on time. 50% or more is late fee or some other penalties.

Then i got mastercard from another bank , never replied to their phone calls. Now week back , i got one call from one represantative , he said we will waive off all penalities and other fees. Just pay us whatever u spent using ur card.

My question , is after i pay them and i settle whole issue. What if after a month or so , they again call me , that i have to pay certain amount of fee to visa card?

I want to know if any india here had any uch experience and what should i consider while paying them?

what documents should i check? what type of receipt should i ask for?

I am really curious to know if any forum member had these types of experience and how they cope with it.

go to their bank, tell them you want to close the card and pay the amounts that have incurred (w.o the late fees etc). Fill up the forms and fill up this amount in that. Retain a copy of those forms.

Get a card from some other bank.

Why didn't you cancel your card when you were charged a wrong fee the first time?

Pay up your card. Then simply cancel the card. And get another one from a better company. I recommend HSBC.

But before you get a new credit card, ask the rep about the fees. Yearly fees. Monthly fees. Late fees. What is the APR charged. ATM fees. Money withdrawal fees.

There are various kinds of fees you can be charged - ask about all of them. You've got to do your due diligence before you get the card. Making the same mistake twice isn't good.

Btw - any debit or credit card powered by Visa or Mastercard will work with PayPal.

If you have not received your monthly statements it is their fault and not
yours. Ask them to show all PODs (proof on delivery) of the monthly statements and also mention
you want to settle it in court. If you have a lawyer buddy who can do a phone call
for you free, request him to do so, their languages work sometimes as tonic.

Finally: PAY NOTHING FOR WHICH YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. PERIOD.
