How many of you only use the basic/free package with Statcounter.com and how many pay fo the upgraded service?

I'm looking to see if the $9.00 is justified in what you gain.

    Thanks!

I've used StatConter for years for free. However, as soon as Google Analytics came out, I upgraded immediately to Google Analytics and dumped StatCounter.

I was one of the lucky first to get onboard with Analytics - I still use the free version of statcounter as well.

Google Analytics data is 24 hours old - so if I want to know what has just happened on my website I look at it with statcounter

W3Counter's free log size is 250 times larger than StatCounter's (25,000 vs 100). Theirs is pitifully small.

Google Analytics records the largest amount of data of any free service I know, as long as you're willing to wait for the invitation to come.

I use both statcounter and analytics. I like the detailed data presented by statcounter, where analytics gives overall idea.

I do exactly the same thing for the same reasons :)
I am not sure why they configured Google Analytics to provide 24h old data, as it could easily provide Real-time ones. It guess that it is to prevent a load problem on their server :(

They signed up a quarter of a million large websites in less than 3 weeks. "A load problem" is an understatement ;)

    eheh.
I am wondering if Real-time makes a large difference in load. I never had a dedicated web server running the previous Urchin so I am not sure how ressource consuming it is

    lol.
If Google Analytics is a Free counter... Webtrends is a paying one right?
50,000USD are a bit expensive for a WebTrends counter IMHO :p

I think he was poking fun at your terminology. You wouldn't pay $50,000 for a hit counter, but you would for web analytics, and there's a bit of a difference ;)

No, Google Analytics is not a counter. That's the point. Calling it a counter is insulting to the web analytics industry :)

I am one week into using Google Analytics. Previously I was (and still am) paying the $19 per month to StatCounter for the 10,000-size log.

I love the StatCounter results, alive right up to the moment, and am reluctant to leave them until I see if Google Analytics can give me all that StatCounter does. Time will tell. In sum, to date I feel the $19/month has been well worth it.
