Hi Everybody I just launched this new free site where everyone can enter an URL and the site will estimate the number of visitors that the site has, based on different online sources. The site is called Statbrain.com and I would really like some feedback. Try entering your own site and see how good Statbrain.com is at guessing the number of visitors that you have. I've has some problems with Internal Server Errors so tell me if you get one. Any sort of feedback is very welcome either here or use the forms on the website for any other confidential feedback.
Hi, Yeah I got the Internal Server Error. I tried a site then opened a new window on the home page and tried another site and got the error. I tried the second site again and it worked. After trying a few more sites I got the error a few more times. It seemed to be when I entered a url from the results page. The home page didn't give the error very much. Whats the point of the site? The estimates were a little high. Ross
I gave it a try. Typed in some sites, and it seems to work. NOthing wonderful, but ok. It would be nice if pople would try to create more 'content' sites instead of 'tool' sites. There are too many smiley/ipchecker/traficstats/ sites on the web already...
The point of the site is to satisfy people's curiosity and hopefully it can help with that. The numbers are far from perfect. Sites with less than 1000 visitors and very large sites are especially problematic. I'm working on the algorithm all the time and it is getting better and better. I'm also getting lots of reports which is very helpful.
I tested a page that gets between 200 to 500 page views per day. Tool estimated under 10. Back to drawing board.
Estimated number of visitors for www.digitalpoint.com 717,299 visitors per day YIKES !!! shawn will confirm those figures with you
my site is 1000 pages, PR6, well indexed with all major SE's and it worked for me, within +/- 10% well done!
I like it. I did some tests it and seemed pretty accurate to me. I am going to add it to my favorites.
Got the internal server error on the third site I entered. I found it fascinating that the first two sites, which have nothing in common, both got the exact same traffic estimate of 1,721. I thought that was unusual. The traffic for the third site was estimated way too high. So while it's cute, it's got a lot of work that needs to be done. It's pretty neat overall. Good luck.
Good idea, tell us how you programmed the site and about your skill sets in case any of us need your help.
Yes Yes Yes!! Finally it happened; I solved the “Internal Server Error†problem. So what was the solution? Well it is all very simple. The Internal Server Errors was something that I hadn’t experienced locally so I figured out I should try a new hosting company. That I did and the problem was solved. I guess the message is: choose the right hosting company! P.S. The domain has been transferred 24 hours ago, but some might still see the old hosting company for a few more hours...
Interesting stuff. Definitely useful when doing a competitive analysis. The stats were relatively close for sites that I know. A few on the low side, a few on the high side, but still within a reasonable range.
Typos fixed, thanks J.D. Also I had some problems with Alexa the past 5 days, but the problems have been fixed now.
