Hi DP Members, I have a new idea to start a web based business this website i believe does not exist as of yet and i believe there to be a market to make use of this type of website. What i am stuck with is the protection of my idea as i have a low budget so i would like to start my site and get it going but if someone with more money sees my idea and comes along i will have no chance as they would take over the market. So for example new ideas like eBay etc back in the day what did they do to protect there idea and is there anything available to protect my idea today. I really believe this could be big what i have in mind but i fear it could be took over by someone else and i will miss out. Thank you.
Friend, First of all you gotta chill... no business can reach the top till it takes some risks. But hey, if you think your ideas are great, start out building your website... complete is fully and before you launch it try creating a buzz about the website in forums and other important places about 10 days prior to the launch... be sure you'd get many registrations on the first day... but make sure no errors exist in your scripts or else its doomsday... (or maybe you can keep checking for errors everyday and edit them....) As far as the early days of eBAY are concerned, do you even remember the time and competition that was in the market when eBAY came into market? Friend, websites come and websites go... but to make a mark in history you need to step up, take risks and who knows... you might go in big with that small step of urs... Best of luck... Warm Regards, Sunny Kumar Gupta
i think the best way to protect the idea is to do all the programming on your own. if you are looking for an investor you should consult a lawyer and ask what possibilyies you have to protect your idea you could also get a bank loan (i think you don't need to tell them your idea) and then make contracts with everybody you hire where they have to sign that they won't use or sell you'Re idea
I would take a patent on the idea if it's really that good but take care. Patents can cost up to 10k for 1 country only!
You aren't going to get a patent with just an idea. There is a good chance that there is either no market for your idea, or someone is already there.
Where does this insane idea come from that you can PATENT an IDEA? "Hey, let's patent the idea that you can produce a cure for disease x. Then no one will be able to compete with us!!!"
In order to not let your idea copy by other people. I suggest you to patent the idea to yourself. Its kind of intellectual property
Patents are just a tick more than worthless anyway.. When you submit your "idea" to the patent process it gets published.. There are people that read patents all day long looking for ideas that they can use or steal.. Then when they beat you to market you have to fight them to prove it was your idea.. All a waste of time.. To protect your "idea" simply be there first.. And be there best.. eBay wasn't first to do online auctions.. But they did it best.. Amazon wasn't the first to sell books.. But they did it best.. Microsoft isn't best at anything.. But they tend to get there first.. Take your idea and run with it.. If it's as good as you think you will be copied and knocked off.. But if you get there first, and get there best, they won't be able to compete..
Basically if you're going to disclose information with others make sure they sign NDA's and even NCA too. This will add some protection and will allow you to discuss your ideas with others more freely.
Ok, I get it, it's too difficult to understand. Let me rephrase it. You PATENT the actual IMPLEMENTATION. That means you can patent your IMPLEMENTATION of a cure for disease x. You DO NOT patent an IDEA. You CAN NOT patent the idea that you can cure disease x. What kind of a fucking dumbass world would we live in if that were possible. Gee, I wonder why MySpace or whoever the fuck was first with social networks didn't PATENT the IDEA of a social network. That would have been such a kickass move. No competition from Fadbook or any other site!!!
If you have competition that comes directly as a result of your website then it is a compliment. That means you have a good idea. All you need to do is improve on it and stay ahead of the competition. Competition is everywhere, If your the best then you will be fine.
I think looking at your responses the best thing is to get interest before launch then just keep pushing the site and make sure i offer my members what others do not. I think something allot of people do in the world of online business's is give up to easy. I may also look into coding and see if i can get a partner to do it with me so as i keep the idea safe without being offered for sale by the coder which did happen to me one time. Thanks for all your input.
protect ur business/idea online ??? create the most impact where everyone remember ur name/brand ..... only huge user support that can't be steal .... implement it ur idea and see the result .....
