Hello, I'm from the United States and speak English as a first language (or what is apparently called 'native language' on here). I have a college education with a honors degree in English and would love to find out what the best way to break into the copy writing market is. I would honestly prefer to here from those that are in the United States like myself that are successfully copy writing. I have several questions including: How do you find perspective clients? How do you make contact with perspective clients? What is a fair rate?
Here are some sources for advice -- http://allfreelancewriting.com/ http://freelanceswitch.com/ Both of these sites are great for learning about copy writing. If you are hoping to just write SEO content you need to search Google for information on that subject. You should also research other writers on this forum and on other websites and see how you compare. This research will help you since you will know what is expected.
You don't need to say that you are located in the United States because it shows evidently that you are not anywhere near in the US. By the way, here's a thing, check this update --- http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2300252&highlight=true+country Your country will be seen based on IP settings, no matter how you try to hide it. Best of luck dear..
Well, this fact is due to lost people confusing native USA indigenous people with English-born speakers, at least is what I came up with after interviewing a few people about this approach that was born here. On the other hand and regardless you live, a writer proficient in English language is not synonym for an American-born or American-resident writers. Tons of Americans write with more grammar mistakes than a non-English "native" speaker who lives in Bora-Bora. And remember that English is a language that was born in the United Kingdom, not in the USA, not to mention English is the primary language for Australians, just to say. On a side note, what you need to find is prospective clients, and prospective gigs, not "perspective." Bad starting with this.
You could try offering your services on ifreelance.com or bidding on jobs that people are already requesting on that site.
