Starting out - Evaluate my plan!

Alright guys I am JUST starting out with SEO and websites in general. I am just using WP for now, nothing too fancy.

My site is videogamereign (dot) com. Obviously it is based on video games. I will have sections for Xbox, PS3, Wii, and PC, and in each category I will have reviews, news, tips and tricks, etc.

I can write well so I plan to just write a LOT of seo-optimized content for the site.
    Here is my plan:
-Write AT LEAST 1 article of 400+ words each day, targeting 1-2 specific keywords with a KW density of 2-3%.
-Submit the article to Social Bookmarking sites (20+)
-Wait until the article gets indexed in Google, then submit it to EzineArticles and maybe a few other article directories.
-Find and comment in at least 5 blogs each day that MATCH MY NICHE
-Post the link to my homepage on various forums
-Do link exchanges with a few people with sites in my niche

Do you think it would be worth it to hire someone to submit my site to directories? I have heard that the backlinks from directories don't do much...

Is that a good plan? Anything you would add/remove? I am a complete noob, but I CAN write very well and I know how to write for search engines.

I appreciate any input you have to offer :)

Sounds good. But empires aren't built over night.

Rankings in your first few months can be up and down like a yo-yo. You need to get some PR and this takes time.

Concentrate on unique, fresh, daily content and work on link building and the rest should take care of itself.:)

great plan but i would advise against submitting to article directories. this will only water down the authority of your own site.

Yeah what Matt said, don't submit your content to the article website, this will only create duplicate content and get your content downgraded. You should try to write one article daily and submit it to Ezine Articles to help with you SEO too. If you use long-tail keywords you can get a few clicks from the articles plus the SEO value will help slightly. The key to really getting high relevant PR is to write great content, break stories in the gaming world, and create contests in which other people will link to you.

To get the best results, you need to have unique content on every page of your website. If you plan on submitting articles, make sure you spin once article into different versions to get the best results.

Directory submission is not as effective as it used to be, but it does have some positive effect since backlinks will count.

I didn't personally as I get bored, but I had someone I know do it. He has a very good reputation and did a very good job. I now have an Excel spreadsheet of 1000+ keywords related to the Xbox 360, their monthly search volumes, competition, etc.

I will be focusing on the Xbox 360 because that is what I play, but I will do stuff on PC, ps3, and Wii as well.

Should I use a different keyword for each article, or should I maybe do 2-3 articles on each targeted keyword?

Thanks for all your answers...Still looking for more input!

There's a great number of sites reviewing games consoles already, & if you check their sites, you'll probably see tens of thousands of backlinks and juicy PR.

Maybe long tails is the way to go. Suits the affiliate marketing model better, but this is a way to get top rankings pretty quickly.

I know I am going to have to target VERY long longtails... Probably 3-4+ words. But that comes with the niche, so I will just have to deal with it.
