I am very new to online marketing and I am trying to get my first site up and going!! I figure that since I have looked at almost all different programs before finally deciding on earn1kaday.com (good choice if anyone is interested) I would basically build a site with referrals to sites like earn1kaday.com, wealthy affiliates, etc. to get my feet wet. I want to list 5 sites at max and don't want to end up promoting any lame sites that don't give people their bang for their buck. I am open to which sites I should promote. I am also on a a budget do to the bad housing market ( bad timing and don't get into business with family, not worth it!!!) Any suggestions on how to get traffic to the site? I would appreciate any and all comments!
    Thanks everyone,
    Adam

The first rule, the one that's been said millions of times, is the simplest :). Publish quality content; write about things you know a lot about. It will take consistent effort over a period of months to build up quality traffic. The best traffic you can get is organic traffic from major search engines. Use a quality CMS (WordPress works very well for many sites) and install plugins to take care of things like basic SEO tasks, creating an XML sitemap, and notifying search engines when you've added content.

Social networking sites are great for building search engine backlinks, but not great for highly targeted traffic. These audiences also tend to be "ad blind." It's still worth the effort to promote your site with these systems, but you need to a good member and promote other sites' content as well. Users who just push their own content tend to be poorly regarded in most communities.

See my sig for some additional advice on the technical side of running a web business. Good luck! :)
