    bobchrist is right; forget, at least at the start, about freelance sites and the internet; just try to find locally. Very easy to get projects that way as companies still want people to be in their office and work on stuff. I don't know where you live, but I get requests every week for projects of about 3 months a piece for about $150-200/hour as programmer. You have to sit in their office though and I hate that more than anything, but if you don't mind, local freelance jobs are a piece of cake to get.

    Oh that sounds interesting. Thanks for the help guys, I'll check into it. I think working local is a good idea, too.

    Bidding sites work for many people, but I've never enjoyed using them for my ghostwriting services. There are always too many people ready and willing to underbid you. Set up your own website offering your services and advertise it in your signature file :) If you have samples of your work and it is of high quality then you will get clients. If that isn't for you, then you can find work on the bidding sites.
