Starting new website -- need advice

Hey guys, I'm planning to start a new website in the near future within the "make money online" niche. I just wanted to get your advice on what I should expect for traffic, and what sort of effort I should expect to put in to attain decent traffic levels within this area.

I will be using a domain that is currently 1 year old. My currrent plan is to have around 50 to 100 pages of content, varying from 300 to 1200 words each. Website isn't anything fancy, just basic html coding. I won't be targetting vague keywords like "make money online", but more specific one's that get smaller amounts of searches (say, 1000 per month) and are less competitive. As far as SEO, I initially will submit articles (20-50 probably) to directories, and will work on getting backlinks from other websites, dofollow blogs, etc.

Any ideas on what I should expect for such a plan? In order to get good levels of traffic, is that a good level of content? Also, what do you think a good number of backlinks would be? Currently plan to get at least a hundred

    Thank you

Been a while since I've been on the site but I'm still in the same boat as you. My 2 cents is your on the right track with submitting articles and getting backlinks from other websites. (I'm back to do the same) Only aditional thing I can add is expect a 3-6 month plan before you start seeing any kind of traffic that can be converted to clicks.

If you get at least a hundred you would be off to a good start imo, especially if there all from different domains/ip, I think.

This sounds like a good idea. There's nothing like making money by showing others how to do it. However, I've never read a good money making article/post if its only 300 words so my suggestion is to go with 1200 words.

I think you have a good plan and you've already covered the important factors in SEO and do not need to get a pro SEO like others mentioned.

    Good luck.
