Starting new site, need advise on duplicate content and using images

I am starting a site the same as www.mattsmusicpage.com

I have these questions:

1) matts music has images. Would he have permission to use them? Whatn would I have to do to use images on my site?

2) I can copy lyrics from any lyric site because it is all the same, however will the search engines penalize me for duplicate content? What should I do to prevent it?

3) How do I get guitar tabs on my site? Am I allowed to use someones without asking or do I have to ask the webmaster?

I think that both lyrics and tabs are copyrighted so be careful. Images are often copyrighted, but if you take images from the artists home page they may consider it promotion I suppose.

 

For pictures, it's best to use their press release kit.
