    Hi there.

I have searched around for some time and have not found anything useable yet. I am a multimedia designer who is starting a vinyl shop. I have designed and developed my own website - Now my problem comes..
How to create a webshop? I want to design the site my self and then have a webshop that accepts credit card and paypal - but also that I have access to add/remove products, see my costumers order and stuff like that.

    Any advice?

What you need is a shopping cart solution, there are many commercial and free versions out there.
    The most popular ones are:
    • Magento
    • OpenCart
    • ZenCart
    • Shopify
    • WooCommerce
All of these are great options and will give you the features you require and a lot more, for ecommerce you might also be interested in reading this article on how to do SEO for ecommerce:

If you need hosting you could look at https://cloudbeast.net which i run, Ill probably also help you setup the shopping cart if you ask for it...

Magento and open cart are better options. Just design a custom theme and integrate it with any free cart. you will have a custom designed site for free

If you are planning to start with small and gradually increase by seeing the growth of site , I would recommend to install wordpress with Woocommerce plugin. No fancy admin and very user friendly to operate.
Once you see the business grows , you can decide to choose between various bigger options like Magento , Zencart , Xcart etc.

Select a shooping cart that has a API that connects to a Gateway to process credit cards.

Unless you're talking about hiring another person to manage the back-end of the site that you've designed and built yourself, it seems to me like you're going to have to work at managing the back-end of your eCommerce site. There's a lot that goes into keeping the wheels turning when you're selling online.

Of course, there are software solutions that can help you automate things as much as possible. Solid Commerce is definitely one of them -- our platform basically takes all the major aspects of your online selling like orders, inventory, shipping, listing, repricing, and customer management...and puts it all into a single interface so you can manage everything in a single spot, even if you're selling on multiple channels.

Either way, what's going to happen is that you're going to probably wind up picking out the shopping cart hosting options -- something like Magento can certainly allow you to design the site yourself and have something customized to your liking. Then, once your site is set up, someone's going to have to run it behind the scenes. Deal with customers, make sure inventory is managed, fulfill orders, sort out returns, etc.

I hope this helps! Good luck. :D

You can either use prestashop or opencart (I wont recommend Magento as it would take lot of time to learn)
Out of the box, above two carts are self - explanatory with lots of info/tutorials over internet and has very active community

Magento can be a good option as it is the fastest growing e-commerce platform. It is free to download and also open source. Small business can also consider Magento if they want rapid growth and good technical access. Magneto has also had an advance version for technical support for medium or large size business (Magento enterprise edition). Developers can also edit the code and add functionality and features.
