Im starting my own program for my site and these questions go both for affiliates as well as others who own their own program. What Program? First who has the best promotion to pick up a lot of affiliates internetwork? Right now I am looking at clixgalore and their corporate account. I was going to go through CJ but the cost seems to be a lot higher. However, willing to take a hit on those costs if it means double the affiliates signing up. Any thoughts here? Pricing and support Right now I am middle of the road on some things, high on others on what I am paying out. However, I am willing to go the extra mile for my affiliates from creating content, to custom graphics, phone and online support, the works. How many affiliates are willing to take middle of the road commissions, even with excellent support? A lot of the programs I noticed will help out for huge affiliates, but I am willing to help the smallest of sites (as much as possible) to convert as well as possible. Pricing Tiers Is it better to offer starting at less than average and have sites move up to just over average? Im on a thin margin and looking for the affiliates to provide controlled cost, but I need volume in the long run. As an affiliate what do you look for? How long? How long does it take to ramp up a campaign? Meaning a good amount of affiliates. I am putting about 75% of my marketing budget into signing on new affiliates (about $5,000 per month) but want to get an ideal of normality when it comes to getting sites to sign up. I know this is probably a way to broad of a question, but maybe looking for others experiences. Thanks, James
Actually I am going to run through just about all of the different affiliate programs as well as run my own. Basically tapping everyones affiliates while offering those affiliates as well as my own with extra tracking through a custom DB I am building. Trying to ramp up to 1000 affiliates within the first 12 months, but my entire marketing campaign is aimed at signing up new affiliates so from the people I have spoken to thus far that doesnt seem to be a problem, but really wanted to get some feedback on what everyone else was doing as a merchant. Hi, I would like to know the answers to your questions as well. I just launched a website and am looking for a decent affiliate program to run on it without it costing an arm and a leg (linkshare, performics, cj, etc.). Right now I am running AffiliateNET software on the website but the results I have seen as of yet are mediocre and not many affiliates have been signing up for the affiliate program. Can anyone offer any guidance that would help me to fix this issue? I realize how valuable it is to your business to have a successful affiliate program so I really want to figure this out and make it work.
