I'm brand new to SEO and am starting a pharmacy affiliate site. I'm trying to decide on keywords and am using the overture keyword suggestion search. I've read that I should aim for non-highly sought after keyword, so about how many visitors a month per keyword should I shoot for? I originally started with keywords getting 2000+, is this way to high for a new pharmacy affiliate site? Or should I target words near 300 - 500?
Longer keyword phrases tend to attract more targeted visitors which ends in higher conversions for your affiliate scheme, they are also easier to get higher positions in google.
i'll try to use longer keywords, but about how many hits per month on each keyword should I be shooting for? I mean should I bother putting in a keyword that usually gets 3000+ a month?
I would go lower. Look at keywords in which you can achieve and then work your up. If you don't mind waiting and plan to put alot of effort into it then you may consider the more popular terms.
Alright, I went with mostly 700 - 1,300 hits a month keywords... and someone actually placed an order today! my first. (i doubt it had to do with the keyword change since I don't think any search engines had time to update). I guess now I just need to go through each individual page and add in a better title and description / keywords. having problems with rxpayouts though, I want to make shipping free but it won't let me change the shipping amount.... something about my commission not being high enough
