Hello, I just started online Encyclopedia project and i am collecting content from everywhere i can get, i am not sure about this is it legal or not. I just can say that i am using different sources and websites, but i copy content and put original copyright text at the bottom and link to website from where i take the content. Any suggestions can i do this or not ? Kind regards...
You are only allowed to copy content that is explicitly in the public domain, or otherwise explicitly gives you the right to copy it on your site. Most information on the internet is not public domain, so it would be copyright infringement if you copy the text and place it on your site, even if you link back to them. Yes, that is one of the license requirements - if you copy your content from Wikipedia, you have to let others copy from you. The alternative is to write the material from scratch yourself, or purchase text from others.
