There is always a leader in every niche and every business. But that doesn't stop newcomers. Don't worry if you are smaller in front of Squidoo or Hubpages, because they also started as small sites several years ago.

I advise, be with your decision. I also like your decision.

I am giving a more easy but powerful way for people (lensemasters, hubbers) to get traffic and market their lenses or hubpages to their visitors. Something that squidoo and hubpages isnt giving in this way.

I dont think its really impossible however it will took a lot of time. I am not interested in making money at the moment, my main focus is to capture as much community members as i can. Money is the later step.

If you want to compete with the big sites you should keep in mind that most of them don't make any profit at all, at least when they start out, but instead are funded by venture capitalists. They are also usually founded by people who are big names in the web world, and their relationships with other Silicon Valley types helps give their business a boost.

HubPages was founded with a $2 million initial investment from a venture capital firm.

Squidoo didn't have VC funding, but was founded by popular business writer and entrepreneur Seth Godin who could assemble a team of experts to get things going. Godin could just post about Squidoo on his blog and build a lot of buzz that way.

That doesn't mean you won't be able to compete with those sites, but just realize it will be very difficult if you don't have funding or industry connections.

Yes there is still a market for this kind of site.
Just be more innovative than the current one and you will sure be big.
For now,you can start collecting feedback from hubpage user about what they like about it or what they think still can be improved so that your site is perfect

Well it certainly could work as it is an expanding market rather than contracting, but it will certainly be hard to top the big names in the industry.
