First of all these members buy cheaper TLD domain names or Domain names which are dropped or Domain names sold at very low price.

Install free themes, set up featured listings priced at 3-10$/permanent

Spam the Solicitations & Announcements Forum announcing the directory to be free for limited time with cheap featured listings

Reannounce after a week and then after a month just forget the domain name as if the owner never owned it.

This is the same stuff which keeps going on in a cycle but the main question is Does anyone need their website listed in a low quality/ crap directory?

Do you really think submitting to a bad directory would help you?

The best solution for this would be to spread the word and let everyone know that getting listed in these non/de indexed, non ranking, link farm directories are just good for link sales to casino sites and dont help you out in general.

This can help the whole directories section a good name and the quality web directories would not get penalised, because in general most webmasters now think that getting listed in any directory would help them rank, and when they dont suceed they start pointing out at the complete web directories system.

Hope some can understand my point here

 

I didn't know that this old business is still going on. I am not sure if such links still sell. The buyers will usually be new people, who are misguided by old articles about directories written many years ago on the internet and blogs.

 

this happens to all business who are thinking of short terms strategy for making an instant cash and get out and never come back... directory business is more off demands the dedication and patience and should be treated as other businesses...

 

Thats true we need to educate these noob's regarding the value of low quality web directories and need to show them the real stuff. This can just be done by spreading the word

 

so what can we do ? for some lamers this is the daily meal. Those who will oppose are extremely few in comparison with those who are doing this.

Advice : Never argue with a bunch of stupid ppl, because they will defeat you in seconds...

Nice post Amit, I know S/A section is spammed by these new free directory launches everyday.
Selling featured links at a low price, then selling the site wide links in the Link sales section.

 

Don't hate them, love them because you are one of them. You are doing exactly the same thing with your daredirectory.info. The only difference is that your directory is the same like it was on Christmas...

Hi guys

Submissions of crappy websites with free listing what makes directory owner a tough job to maintain the Directories. Giving 2-3 hours per day is not a joke. Most of the time, Submissions are made either in wrong categories, choose paid but no money passed, MFA sites, 1-2 page websites, affiliate websites, websites that made you wanna leave immediately etc.etc..

It is actually tough work for directory owners to maintain the quality of websites for free. The Responsibility goes to both submitters and owners. But there is always one owner and thousands of submitters and to deal with them is one of toughest job in the world.

There are hundred of thousands of directories in the internet, most of them are active for few months and soon dies out. IMO, this is because he/she has no time to maintain due to lots of lots of either good sites or crappy sites and the owners wont get paid for it.

There is should be some sort of data which has records of good directories but it is still a tough work. I remember one of member said, "Directories are like food chain in the system", so its all the survival of the fittest in that system.

I wonder how can one maintain so many directories. I own about 20 dirs myself and trust me its a pain in the ass to maintain them.

Custom themes, backlinks development, paid scripts... Its not a joke to make and own many dirs. What that guy is doing I must it takes guts to do it.

But only if he had maintained them with proper themes, backlink developments and paid version, he would have earned my respect too.

 

Sounds like a moderation and/or forum problem more than anything else.

 

do you think that 1 or 2 moderators can handle all those who are posting in that area ?
I think that for them this is a hobby, not a full time job...

 

And its a FULL TIME job to launch dirs for many dudes here!

Do you think these guys would renew these domain names? Hosting costs 6$-10/month max at most hosting companies

 

Agreed for domain, ok dump them.

But now if one hosts so many dirs on one reseller many hosting companies complain of excessive server usage coz of directories and suspend your account. I faced such a problem even when I had one directory hosted in my reseller.

How is the guy managing...? Man I gotta have his personal interview done!
