Hi friends I am interested in starting an online gaming site where people can come and play flash based games. I came across a script for such a site at https://secure.agaresmedia.com/v6/products/arcade-script/ . Would you recommend it? How much capital is required for this business? Give me some tips and suggestions as to how should I start. (PS: I don't have any experience in coding or designing)
That is also a nice script. But i would advise you use free arcade script such as freearcadescript so that you can minimize the cost. You'll need around $200 for it to include the marketing cost. For starting, you can spread the word about your site to your offline friend by word of mouth.
You'll need money to get visitors and game sites earn very little from adsense. It will be a fun project but not one that would earn you decent money.
Well i run 2 and personally i haven't use the script but i haveh eard its very good. It doesnt take $200 if you know what you're doing, i spent around $100 including script but could have easily done it for $60 and done a bit of work myself. It is quite easy to get traffic and they do make ok money for little maintinance, i dont write posts all i do is spend 10 minutes picking a game each day, and for that i think it's good pay.
hey talk2tanveer thanks for the post. I am looking for something similar. What is your status in finding the right script? Would you mind sharing it? Also lorddan01 - thanks for your feedback to the original post. I am looking for something that will not occupy too much of my time. I have a question though, how do you pick game packs?
- I would try and keep your initial start-up costs to a minimum (use a low-cost script, affordable hosting, etc.), and save the rest of your money for marketing and promotion.
I think it's a great niche to be in because it's so huge. I've seen more than a few websites that host specific genres of flash games (strategy, tower defense, bottom-up shooters, etc), rather than serving as a massive flash game directory. I think they do quite well for themselves, I know I'm hooked on flash strategy games.
Right i would totally recommend not using a free script if you have the intention of using a paid script in future. If you can afford a paid one, get it. The reason is that they all have different URL paths, so you use a free script, you will change to a paid and get different urls for games. Also different scripts require the games database changing, which can be time consuming. Its not that time consuming, unless you do all link building yourself, like i did at first but not i can afford to get it done by someone else. I get my games from www.mochimedia.com or places like www.addicitinggames.com just use the embed code. But as a side not, please if you get it using an embed code, leave the other person's URL in, its only fair as they let you use a free game.
One thing you should pay attention to is decent hosting. If you get cheap unreliable hosting your games could be slow to load or not available etc, this could turn off players right from the start.
It'll be hard to sustain as gaming niche is saturated. Well if you have a completely unique system which will attract visitors, then no problem.
1. I am interested in arcadempro script bcos it looks good and is easy to use. However I don't know how to install it..Probably I have to hire some1 to do it for me.. . 2. I am interested in building an online casual gaming community where people can not only play games, but also interact with other gamers. I am looking as to how I can hold gaming tournaments and reward players on the basis of high scores, etc. The arcadempro script counts how many games the user is playing and awards points on that basis, but I am looking for something which can capture and store high scores of the games. 3. I think this can be a profitable business if handled properly. flash games are extremely popular among all age groups. People have the urge to compete and beat others...all we have to do is cash on it
Once setup, you need to get recurring visitors. This means -New content, daily if possible -Easy navigation with a fast loading site -Getting a reliable host, your site CANNOT be down -Try to encourage membership/loyalty with promotions/competitions/high score challenges etc.
Adding new content is easy. There are many sites which publish new games almost daily which you can upload on your site. I'll need to spend in marketing and promotion..how much do you think I need to set aside as promotional expense every month?
The money you need is inverseley proportional to your effort. Meaning the more effort you do and stuff you do yourself the less you spend. But if you're lazy then it could cost you a few hundred $'s.
Depends how much time youve got free. Promotion/advertising is simply hard work. Do it yourself and you can get away with spending near pennies, if you don't have the time or effort to do it then its a case of paying someone else to manually submit your URL places, organise link exchanges etc, and yes, that could EASILY be a few hundred $.
I saw the comment about the hosting is this hosting plan ok or what http://www.bluehost.com/tell_me_more.html if not ok plz give me the good hosting plan and provider
