I'm completely new to this area. So right now I'm pretty much at a total loss as to where to start. Basically my question is, is it worth it to actually purchase some ebook or articles regarding this subject? Are they real or just cheating the buyers?

Ebooks might help in small measures, but don't trust anyone who offers easy way to make millions in few weeks. There is no shortcuts here, best way to learn is from forums and current articles which are free. Making money from affiliate programs is never going to be easy, it takes a lot of hardwork, knowledge and skills.

I agree with the forums route. Type in 'affiliate marketing forums' into google and explore what comes up.

Many of them are real, even more are not. I usually dump the book if it promises something incredible and uses terms like "easy", "in bla bla weeks". You'll get up to date information by following affiliate marketing forums. Still, reading a book or two about affiliate marketing is a good idea before you start.

    Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for all of your inputs. I think I'm gonna head to the forums first to get the basics.

Affiliate blogs are often a lot more helpful than ebooks. They usually have a bunch of basic articles you can search for that teach the basics, but they also have up-to-date articles on what is working for them at this point in time. Some even go as far as to tell you what they are promoting and what is converting for them.

As others have said, if its too good to be true, it probably is. Niches tend to do the best with affiliate stuff. If you have a lot of traffic in a niche - say Christianity being an affiliate for related Christian products may allow you to pick up some extra cash.

What does starting an affiliate mean? Are you wanting to set up as a merchant or an affiliate?
