Hi, I would like to know your opinion regarding starting an ad network. I've been reading a lot of blogs about ad-network. But I still have one question in mind. How to get the first few advertisers and first few websites to display ads? Any tip/suggestion or an advice would be highly appreciated.
If you want to contact me, one of the great things about our network system is you have access to ad campaigns and publishers day one. This gives you the ability to get started with inventory right away. So when you sign up publishers, you have ads to serve and when you sell ads you have inventory to work with while you are building your own client base.
Hi mrmac87, first off, I applaud you for having the innovative idea to start your own ad network. It will take a lot of dedication and hard work, but I'm sure you can pull it off. I've never opened my own ad network, but I've worked with a couple and I can share some of my experience with you. The hardest part is probably getting started in getting advertisers and publishers. What you need to do is establish your brand. Ad networks are all about perception and if you are able to make people believe you have a big network, people will start buying into your idea and try it out. Another thing you should be aware of are your rates. Being in a price war is never the approach, but yet if you can offer a cheap rate (to Advertisers) and a good payout (to Publishers), that can be attractive enough for them to take a look into your network. Anything that minimizes risk will get people to test it out. Those are probably some recommendations that I can offer you. Just remember that perception is everything in the business world. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything goes well!
With all due respect, I barely see you talk about something else rather than your website/company. Maybe you should really try to help others, not for your company only.
With all due respect, in most posts about advertising, I am going to offer my help as that is what our company does, in this case, its not my company that provides the ad server, we pay for it. I see many companies start an ad network with no advertisers and no publishers and within a few months they give up, whereas the system we use has changed that. The system gives an ad network start up a foundation to start with, and with a few good publishers or advertisers, a network operator is already in the black. But you will also see recommendations for companies that we have worked with for years like CPMStar, Yashi, BuySellAds, etc. because we know they are reputable companies that do pay their publishers or offer a good avenue for advertising. If you have a problem with me offering solutions when the OP does not I am sorry you feel that way.
Too many ad networks already, and they're not doing so hot. Clients are going in house, publishers are making less and less. A little late for this card to be played.
I disagree, even since we switched to our new system provider in December, we are experiencing not only growth but increasing profits for publishers as well. Its about finding the right ad network system. Finding one that has great support, is managed and has a built in exchange can make the difference between winning and losing. Over the past 3 years we have had demos of systems that are completely awesome but cost 20k to get started with to systems that are $99 and hosted on our dedicated servers. We have tried around 4 different systems and none of them had the support and more importantly the exchange available to instantly fill our publishers until now. Our medium publishers serving 100k impressions with a .3+ ctr daily are averaging .15 to .20 ecpm. Within 2 weeks of converting to the new system we have already paid for it and we are profitable, so I will say that there is still plenty of room for new ad networks, but only if you start with the right tools.
