Hey guys I didn't want to hijack the other Starting Adsense thread, but in it, many people mentioned investing to start Adsense. I was curious about what to invest in? I've invested in a domain name (www.urbanmonk.net), hosting, etc. A bit of books in design and so on. I got my blog up and running, made a few articles, put my adsense in...what else do i invest in? I'm distributing my articles on the directories but I've stayed away from paid placements on the front page of those article directories.
Invest your time in reading DP threads... There are lots of things your "could" invest in - if you wanted to fast track your earnings, like books, advertising, paying people to design features and sites for your, content writers - the list is endless, but at the end of the day I think going solo in the beginning will help you get a grip on how to do things yourself. Once you have some solid experience yourself - then you can look to invest your money and with you experience with what does and doesn't work you will will invest your money more wisely.
Burta is right invest your time in the DP forum and other reputable forums. Once you get a handle on it and start to make a few bucks then it may be worth looking into other spendible items that may be a tax writeoff to your biz. There are too many trashy ebooks out there that are just not worth it. Then there are a lot of free one that are well ... just loaded with good tips and advice so always research an ebook or other product before wasting hard earned money.
I am myself, pretty new to the business of it all. I make my cash through my ideas and coding abilities by making websites applicable to high amounts of people. Most people buy and sell websites, making profits. Say, someone sells a high traffic website, making $XX/day. The buyer takes it in, makes a measure of profit, depending on how much updating/advertising it takes, and than resells it to another buyer. The cycle repeats.
Hey, not all ebooks are trashy! invest work/effort in building your site with content, and invest time in learning as much as you can.. then as already posted, once you reach your peak, you might need to (or maybe not) invest in hiring writers, web designers, etc.. if you've got extra cash burning a hole in your pocket you could also invest in AdWords or AdCenter to bring traffic to your site.. But really, the only thing you NEED to invest in is your host.. .
I would say invest your time in going through knowledgable sources and ofcourse invest time on building content and links for your site . If you are asking about $$ then I wont suggest investing too much right now . Firstly , gain info on all this stuff and then go for it < opinions may differ >
I'd say: build your site into a quality resource. Invest time, and perhaps money, in that. Other investments should be taken slow. Get to know your space, your competition. If you want to buy ads, try adwords. There too: start with a small budget to test the waters, find out what works. Do try to get quality links to your site, from reputable sites related to yours. Depending on your niche, that may cost some money.
I think you should try to get traffic now and then after you should make the site design look good attractive and then you will earn alot of money after you get alot of visitors.
Thanks guys, can you elaborate more on the last 2 posts? The site design is not good? In which way? And what are good banners? A couple of adsense books I read suggested not to use them.
The layout is good. Fits the name. The placement of text is not great. There's a big space in the middle. Replace it with an ad. Banners are unwelcome in most cases, but here, it would do more good than harm. The big empty space hurts.
I would invest in good quality unique content (good for SEO -> brings you traffic -> gets you more clicks). I would also invest in a good site design as well (appealing sites with quality content keeps visitors at your site)
I'm not sure what space you are talking about? I've filled the top space an ad - sometimes it doesn't show up, could that be what happened on your computer? For example, I've got on the front page: ---- The latest page can be found here (big square of ads) <---Is this what you are talking about? This personal development site will help you mature and achieve success in the major areas of your life. --- There is a gap in between that square of ads and the sidebar, about an inch and a half wide, is that what you are refering to? Much appreciated
